No, not particularly- I'm not sure why people get confused.luvsports! wrote:Lol why does everyone think Amri is a girl when he's said repeatedly he isn't.
Are you rather feminine Amri?
FK- if you want to engage in a debate that's fine by me; create a thread if you want.

Pretty sure Amri is a girl, no matter what claims she makes.

Tenez wrote:ouahh...3 sets to get rid of Karlo?!?! And pretty close as Karlo coudl have won in 2. Can't believe Fed got broken by Karlo.
Hope he recovers on time tomorrow. I am not sure why federer did not start to play on Monday and space up his matches.
Tomorrow looks harder now on today's karlo result!
Fed looked really tired today, plus Ivo served exceptionally well.
He didn't break Fed- Fed broke himself. A momentarily lapse of focus, and that was enough. The crowd carried him through today.
Yesterday's match with Dimi really wiped him out.
He has a few tough weeks ahead, but that's the cost of him playing well. He'll need that week between Paris and London!

Chardy breaks,
I that forehand!
If only he could improve his movement and be a bit more explosive with his feet inside the court which I think is doable, he'd be so much more successful!

Yes, and he is so frustratingly good at it. F. Lopez must be the only non-grinding Spaniard. I wonder where he learnt to play...

I don't think Almagro grinds 2bh. I thought you liked Agut?

I forgot about Almagro, he's completely vanished...
I do like watching Agut, quite a quality player, an entertaining version of Ferrer, much nicer FH.

Btw, I don't mind grinders, they provide good contrast and often draw the best out of attackers.

Re: ATP 500: Basel, Valencia
Interesting comment from Federer on Nadal's latest loss:
"That Rafa loses against Coric, no one could have expected. I was surprised. He should not be defeated by someone I have never seen play.
But that was not the Rafa we know.
I don't want to take anything away from Coric, he did wonderful, but so weak I almost never see Rafa.
I do not understand it completely, because I would never do it that way.
That he played in Shanghai with antibiotics and pain, then also played here and now ends the season because he needs an operation. But only he knows how he feels."

Nor does Agut and Ferrer....though I agree there is some safety margins in Ferrer.luvsports! wrote:I don't think Almagro grinds 2bh. I thought you liked Agut?

I think Federer is saying what most Nadal fans are thinking; Nadal should have not played Basel or Shanghai.Tenez wrote:Yes...strange. But clearly a good friend.
But I think the reasoning makes sense, the time needed to have surgery and rest and train sufficiently for Abu Dhabi was calculated, and at max it was probably around 2 months. So taking gap of more than 2 months was unnecessary, so he may as well take some antibiotics and play Shanghai and Basel, as he did.

Halep-Williams playing WTA Finals final.
Simona thrashed Serena in the RR stage 6:0 6:2.
Serena only squeezed through to the SF because Ivanovic beat Halep in 3 instead of 2 sets.
I din't know why Halep busted her guts to make sure Serena qualifies as the 2nd seed out of her group.

Fed looks pretty sharp, but still a bit heavy for some reason.
Really like the camera angle showing his baseline hitting from behind.
Goffin needs to find his first serve fast. Nice to see another player who doesn't wear sweatbands!

Now that was nice and sweet.
The race for YE #1 is still on. Nole still the favorite, but no longer a prohibitive one. Still, Fed will likely need to do very well both in Paris and in London if he wants to finish at #1.

Re: ATP 500: Basel, Valencia
Yes, Davis Cup points obviously count, but there are not that many points to be won in the DC final (and the points won earlier in the year are already included in the totals). That said, it is conceivable that Fed could clinch #1 in the DC final.

Nice tradition of players giving medals and shaking hands with the ball boys & girls.
The only thing is half of them will be gutted they didn't get it from Fed, so long as they all get to have pizza with him afterwards

The thread is more about what a lovely lad Stan is. v2 in a nutshell....
As far as I know Fed is 500 points behind Nole, and he should get 500 points for the DC final (not quite sure how many points exactly in fact), which means whoever wins WTF should end up Numero Uno.

The thread does give you the numbers - 75 points per win, unless it is a dead rubber in which case no points.

What a thriller, really enjoyed it.
So sorry for Robredo, he played his socks off AND his heart out...
But a big Murray, he was excellent and absolutely deserved his spot in the WTF!

That way people from v2 can come here without the guilt trip, under their "old" names.
Maybe I'm too idealistic & old-fashioned...

Re: ATP 500: Basel, Valencia
For those who have missed it, this match really had it all, including the middle finger handshake at the net followed by a hug
PS
Robredo missed 5 match points.
Apparently the same happened in their previous match a few weeks ago...poor guy...
