Quite an easy draw for Federer: No Shapo, No Raonic, No Delpo.....well on grass most draws seem easy for Federer.

What I like about "Our Tennis Forum"

Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:48 am by barrystar

In short, the absence of thin skins.  Many of the same old prejudices and arguments and insults flow around, but nobody runs to teacher for resolution/vindication.  Instead, people stick up for themselves or disengage from head-banging when they've worked out where their boundaries are and have had enough .  Although this is overwhelmingly a pro-Federer forum, and some pretty harsh anti-Nadal …

Countdown to the unbeatable records

Sun Jun 17, 2018 10:43 am by bogbrush

i notice that after yesterday Federer is only 104 match victories short of Jimmy Connors ridiculous match wins record of 1256. By the time Wimbledon starts that might be down to double figures.

A bit farther away is his titles record of 109, with possible victory today enabling Federer to get to 98. How cool would it be if Wimbledon could be #100?

I think in both cases the tape is still a …

Andy Murray's comeback.....

Wed May 09, 2018 10:07 am by barrystar

The papers today are full of gloomy articles about a set-back and Andy not being at Wimbledon &c &c.  Is there any substance to this stuff, is somebody somewhere in the know providing accurate information, or is it a press pile-on based on speculation which none of them want to miss out on?

Personally, and blissfully free of any specialist medical, sports-science, or other relevant …

Tennis players with bigger muscles get further down the draw!

Tue Jun 28, 2016 11:59 pm by Tenez

What a great study. Something we have been talking here for year is now kind of statistically proven.

I like the way they noticed hoe skinny was Murray at first and how he developped those big muscles.

What a poor state of affair the sport is causewhen you have big muscles you have steroids. it's as simple as

Becker: What a piece of S......

Fri Jun 15, 2018 12:29 am by Tenez

Never liked him. I was in my late teens early 20s when he came to fame but already then I could see something of a cheat and a bully in him. Again diametrically opposed to Edberg (remember that bi-polar world?).

And when one ages we can see the faults amplifying.

He is now trying to evade his debtors based on what he achieved in his youth!

I remember …

Probably The Best Era!

Mon Jun 18, 2018 11:42 am by Tenez

I mentioned this before. Shotmaking wise, the best era was 2003-2006. Players by then had grown up learning to play with natural gut on fastish surfaces. That meant it was harder to keep the ball in court and the better players were simply the best shotmakers out there.
Federer, Blake, Agassi, Nalabandian, Coria, Gonzalez, Ljubicic, Guga were all trying to hit past their opponents while not …

Mercedes Cup, Stuttgart

Wed Jun 13, 2018 2:19 pm by barrystar

Federer's 2nd round match after his 1st round bye is just starting vs. big bro Zverev.

Shapovalov, the guy seeded to meet the winner of Fed/Zverev just lost to qualifier Gunneswaran (me neither).

Kyrgios, who is seeded for the SF in that half, doesn't play singles today.

The question is how much energy does Fed want to expend shaking off the rust here when losing the first match did him no …
