We have a full* line up as the US Open swing gets into gear.

Djoko (1) in the top quarter is seeded to meet Isner (13) in R16 and Fognini (10)/Kyrgios/Kachanov (8) in the QF.  His R32 opponent is Querrey or P-H Herbert - he has the beating of both, but a lively start.  Fognini's R1 is vs. Shapovalov, another #nextgen guy going through the routine of biding his time or drowning under the weight …

Rogers Cup 2019, or is it Coupe Rogers?

Tue Aug 06, 2019 9:27 am by barrystar

The draw came out a couple of days ago amid fevered anticipation, and the two best players in the world away from clay this year are..... missing.

Now 2019 looks like every other year since 2005 (dominance of big 2, 3, or 4 and the rest finding ways to lose) there's pretty thin gruel in this draw.

Nadal once more headlines at what is for him the most productive HC tournament (4 wins) and …

Generation Worthless

Wed Jan 23, 2019 6:21 pm by Daniel2

Has there ever been a more worthless generation than with this lot?

It's beyond worthless.  It's just pathetic in the extreme.

Across the board, these chump bottlers show time and time again why they are failures—whether it be due to lack of brains, despite having the game (Cilic springs to mind... so, too, sadly, does Del Potro), having the gumption of a three year old (Kyrgios), the …

What now for Roger?

Wed Jul 17, 2019 1:40 am by summerblues

With some of our tears dried up by now, what do we make of this result in terms of what it means for Roger?  I see very wide range of possible answers.

He could decide that since he did all he could, was in as good a form as he can be at his age, and yet came up short, he may as well call it a day and retire this year at Basel.

Or he can think that, while at 38 it is hard to tell how much …

Slam chase

Mon Jan 29, 2018 2:54 am by summerblues

Updating my chart with slam total for the big 4 by age.  Looking at it like this, Fed's 20 does not look safe at all.  That slamless stretch from 2012 to 2017 can cost him.  A lot will depend on whether or not Rafa can attain similar longevity or whether he fades much younger than Fed.

Women final

Sat Jul 13, 2019 10:24 am by paulcz

SB, aren't we sexist on this forum? Not having a separate topic for the women final is surely not nice. Btw, does anybody think that anybody on umpire for this match would have enough courage to call a foot fault to Miss Williams in the third set?  Come on Simona!  Winking
