In-match coaching

Sun Jun 16, 2019 9:08 am by bogbrush

I see the USO is to run a “trial” (code for normalisation process) to allow players to receive coaching during the match.

This is a hideous idea. One of the attractions of the sport for me was that I went out head to head against another person and the winner was the better player, not that with the best tactical advice. It also undermines the level playing field concept where regardless of …

Generation Worthless

Wed Jan 23, 2019 6:21 pm by Daniel2

Has there ever been a more worthless generation than with this lot?

No.

It's beyond worthless.  It's just pathetic in the extreme.

Across the board, these chump bottlers show time and time again why they are failures—whether it be due to lack of brains, despite having the game (Cilic springs to mind... so, too, sadly, does Del Potro), having the gumption of a three year old (Kyrgios), the …

Slam chase

Mon Jan 29, 2018 2:54 am by summerblues

Updating my chart with slam total for the big 4 by age.  Looking at it like this, Fed's 20 does not look safe at all.  That slamless stretch from 2012 to 2017 can cost him.  A lot will depend on whether or not Rafa can attain similar longevity or whether he fades much younger than Fed.

The History Thread

Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:11 am by Tenez

This is the thread where you can post little annecdotal stories about past players and matches.

Of course i'll start with an example of the most heard off to take it out of the way so we do not have to hear it again down the thread. McEnroe's outburst "you must be joking" or "you cannot be serious" had been mentioned ad nausea and there is very little point mentioning again. …

The 100 Club

Mon Jun 10, 2019 8:59 am by legendkillar

Not so long ago in the distant past, a poster on the old forum generated arguably one of the most thought provoking articles a forum had seen for a while aptly titled the 3x100 club. Is was largely inspired by the outgoing warrior that was Lleyton Hewitt who was 2 wins away from posting 100 victories on clay which then would've matched the 100 wins accumulated on Hardcourts and Grass.

Now …
