well considering they dont rotate surfaces for atp finals, not bad that it is slower for once.

Nowadays I do not believe anyone in some sorts of power. It is made slower be it balls and/or courts. Have you just seen those rallies between Medv and Zverev? You can retrieve anything.

Except that kills the purpose of tennis which to see what one can do with a tennis racquet. Here it is what one can do with legs and some dodgy potion.

That's 2 extremes. And you justify one by comparaison with the other extreme.

I personally think it's absurd not to reward risk takers. That is not tennis was all about.

Sure he played well yestreday ...but you jump on the good shots forgetting that many players played those kind of shots on a much more regular basis than Nadal. Nadal did not win his 20 slams on slow surfaces by lining up those kind of smashes but rather by getting UEs from his opponents taking risk.

So I am not surprised you get all excited when Nadal plays a great shot.....cause they are simply rare and not his bread and butter shots unlike Fed who pulls shots like that every other shot. .

Not to rehash an old argument, but it's just not true Nadal hitting hotshots are rare. For example, he hits worldies on his forehand regularly. He's a hotshot machine.

As for the jump backhand smash, I think Nadal plays that better than anyone.

Wow amazing Amri! Jinxing works! I wish I d used it long ago!

Anyway Nadal was tired or cramped and started to Serve Volleying way too much for his own good as it exposed his soft volleying. A bit more skills and guts on his volleying could have turned the match.

In spite of Nadal serving for the match in the second I felt that Medv was the better player just weaker mentally or simply not consistent to the standard of the Djoko and Nadal. Notheless he is now better than them.

And I believe Medv will win tomorrow.

Agree with Tenez that Med deserved to win, he was the better player today. 
Nadal not at his best like he has been in the week so far. Still a decent tournament overall, and will feel comfortable heading into off season.

Was pretty close for 2 sets. In fact Thiem was the better player for a set and a half. He did tire after that but Medv as he showed yesterday is also a slow starter and can find a way to win by adapting and changing his plan according to player or form. Thien is more a ball basher. A bit one D....like the other guy.

Btw Djokovic has overtaken Federer’s weeks at #1, as due to the new ranking system (keep points from 2020), he can’t be overtaken until March 8th, by which point he’d have overtaken Federer.

You two never learn that the surfaces are all now slow and catered to Nadal.  Even then he can't win this one tournament where he has to face the best.  Sucks.
