I still can't understand what an idiot introduced  playing  mix doubles on that level. These should be played only as exhibitions, it is sheer comedy.

You are bloody right, but it is only when the couples have equal qualities. If a man on opposite side is too weak, then he runs quite a lot. I don't usually play through women unless I lose a control of the match or it is a kind of revenge

I played some tourney in mixed doubles and can clearly say that the most efficient tactics from many players  was to play the biggest voley at a women at the net soon. Then very often  their  game level slumped and they were hardly able to hit any volley.

Which is why I said volleys to the body should be off -chart.

But they never are...as you said, it improves our game, so I learnt not to bother volleying them, just blocking, sheer survival instinct!

On Weds I played a surrey leagues doubes match and one the opponent was saying the opposite. He thought Murray was a much better player and it woudl be unfair if Stan were to overtake Murray in slams count.
