Some good matches today!
Can Fabulous Fabio Finish Fauxdal?
Also Paire-Robredo.
Paire just needs to keep being his relaxed self and serve well. He beat Boredo a few weeks ago to win his first title.

With courts playing faster, Seppi may tire Nole, hard to see anything else.

I would think any but....never seen anyone tiring Nole...bar Nadal maybe and only then it was Nadal showing a better poker face.noleisthebest wrote:With courts playing faster, Seppi may tire Nole, hard to see anything else.

Just started watching...
Paire has a lot going for him: charisma, good looks, big game...why is he not hyped like Dimi?
He needs someone to drive him a bit, French coaches are too soft for this era.
Not a butcher like Rasheed, though.

I'll take your word for it.
Still, a long sweaty 4/5 setter would definitely chip some freshness away.
I haven't seen him play yet.
If conditions are as fast as they look, Fed could have a good chance against him in the final.
One day at a time.
USO has been quite topsy-turvy in recent years.

Paire needs a first class fitness coach to make his feet lighter.
That would make a big difference.

Paire has got to win this match. Boredo is ripe for packing bags.
He looks quite tired...reminds me of Ferrer but a SBH version.

I actually only properly watched Paire-Boredo today, nice match.
Nole-Seppi is a bad match-up.
Seppi not fit enough to grind back, nor any weapons to attack...so that was 5 minutes of watching, too.
I hope Fognini puts on a show.

A lot of players have been cramping, it must be very humid, still strange...it's never been like this before.

Yes, I saw that.
Poor thing.
Just shows how cruel and mercenary pro sport is now.
I was thinking about it...the top 4 players that have that eery drive to succeed.
Mind is a funny place, so much happens inside a man: emotions, moral law, people around you talking inside you...
I enjoyed his honesty above all. Truth is beautiful.

"I still deal with my anxiety on a daily basis. I still take medication daily. It’s still in my mind daily. There are days that go by where I’ll think to myself, at night, when I’m going to bed: Hey, I didn’t think about it once today. And that means I had a really good day"
Sad. He would feel stronger if he were not taking any.

People capitulate too quickly these days. There is almost no pain threshold.
Fear takes many different forms.

Re: US open prediction game! Day 5!
His naked battle he had with himself was interesting. The inner tennis match.
I am not sure he "won" by playing this USO.
Maybe a little tick in the box for the ego.
But emptiness will still be there and he will never be able to play that match with Federer.
It's dangerous to leave open doors like that.

Woke up just in time to see Fognini serve for the 4th set.
Has anyone beaten Nadal in 5 sets from 0:2 down?
Go Fabio!

Fed beat him in Miami from 2sets down but nadal had not lost that way in 152 major matches. Too a guy who has never beaten a top 10 player on hard court. Rafa Losing his serve 4 times in a row in a 5th set. What a great night.
At least Rafa once again protects his h2h against his top rivals that his fans cling too.

Just got to the airport!
And what lovely news to see...BRAVO FABIO!!!!
I watched till 2:2 in the 5th.
Fognini started with a break then got broken back then all over again...
Well done to him for keeping the nerve.
Nadal was quite aggressive but kept missing, was only able to pull off high percentage shots from standing on the baseline and fed Fognini all the pace who was striking the ball beautifully.
Nothing beats talent

Funny as soon as I asked that question the commentator mentioned that match, but was not in a slam.
Apparently Nadal won 150 5 set matches in slams from being 2:0 up, makes Fabio's win even more special.
I am really happy for him, finally able to rule his temper, about time!

Re: US open prediction game! Day 5!
Just had a look at the draw.
Nole's half looks beautiful, full of pure talent, particularly pleased to see Chardy get past Ferrer, saw some of that match. His FH was finally free to do damage, despite Ferrer being at his grinding best.
amazing to see what a difference a little bit of faster conditions make.
They should have done it long ago.
But better late than never!
Did anyone see the whole match?
Was Nadal given any time violations?
Slams have a 20 seconds rule, but am pretty sure they treat it as 25 seconds now...in theory.

Actually as you say Nadal again avoids a match v Djoko and keeps his "famous" H2H positive.truffin1 wrote:Fed beat him in Miami from 2sets down but nadal had not lost that way in 152 major matches. We still need to understand why the player with the best stamina ever suddenly loses 5 setters against fragile talented players. The score is very much opposite to what Nadal got us used to. It would be like Indurain declining after his first TDF.
There is clearly something wrong with his health...unless there was something wrong before...of course.
