Re: Fed playing with new Racquet!!
JS...trustworthy and reliable? Do yuo know what it means? Is Nadal reliable and trustworthy? are you? Didn't you recently try to destroy evidence of 220 dopers?Julia Santamaria wrote:If it's professional I see it is as more trustworthy and reliable.

It's a real shame Fed had to change his racquet.
Do we know whether he is going back to the "new" one and when?

Re: Fed playing with new Racquet!!
He said the plan was to resume testing after the US Open. Supposedly Wilson was going to tweak some things based on his feedback.
IT looks like Fed is playing Shanghai... They announced that he was going to play Doubles with a local pro (sponsor gimmick). I hope he's playing because he feels 100% and not because Rolex and Mercedes are pushing him as the main sponsors there.
We should see the new racquet in Shanghai and what Fed can do with it after some training where he wasn't completely hampered from the back.

Re: Fed playing with new Racquet!!
It may be written by a fan, but anyone with a bit of experience or has played a decent level of tennis can see that the information is factually correct... Most of it is manufacturer claims anyway so I would think reliable. The conclusions he makes as a writer are perfectly credible.. Anyone can understand the racquet Federer plays with is an extremely precise but difficult racquet to play with and backed by his supreme talent can perform wonders. At the same time, it's no secret that the Nadal racquet does a huge amount of work for the player and manufactures results above and beyond the skill of the player. That's actually not a knock on Nadal-- his skill set enhances what that racquet can do even further and one can't blame him for using technology (at least the kind within the rules) to max his successs. Federer wouldn't be Federer if he played with that type racquet and Nadal wouldn't be Nadal if he played with Federer so they are both in the place where they can be successful.Julia Santamaria wrote:If it's professional I see it is as more trustworthy and reliable.
I played with the KFactor for several years and as I got older and after back surgery- with lost power /timing, I had to move to a larger Wilson Blade. The Blade brought me back to the level I had been before which shows a racquet can make a player better than what his skils condition are truly at.
That's why many hope Fed's move up to a 95-98" racquet can knock off a couple of years of the aging/decline.

Re: Fed playing with new Racquet!!
I'm not saying the article was factually inaccurate- it's just that in general I find articles without tonnes of smiley faces, referring to Nadal has 'the Dull' and bias to me more seems convincing.
In terms of racket technology, I think it's upto the player to use which racket he wants and suits him/ her best. Even with Nadal's racket people can't create what Nadal creates, even with Fed's racket I haven't seen people do what he does... it's special to watch and tbh we are lucky to be able to watch this play.

No I mean if they called Federer 'The Swiss Shanker' or something like that and also had loads of smiley faces- then I would hold the same concerns about that too.

Yep...but this is professional tennis. It's about making money and giving back to sponsors what they gave you. This is one aspect we fans find it difficult to understand but it's a big part of their job.truffin1 wrote:He said the plan was to resume testing after the US Open. We know he is smart enough not to damage his back too much. Strangely I aslo feel that he can only improve his back only by carrying on playing. I might be wrong but Wimbledon 12 was certainly quite telling in that respect. Problem is that it's also by playing that he can suddenly feel pain as well.
