I said right after Djokovic went out that Thiem is favourite and I think I will be proved right. Bookies who have Med as favourite are wrong!

This first set was very encouraging.  Thiem far superior to Medvedev.  Making it look easy.  Not what I was expecting.

Med could win a set as Thiem has a habit of having a dip and giving away a break, and Med could servebot out the set from a break up.

Cool.  Much better result than I was expecting.  Thiem was far superior.  He cannot afford to go down early breaks vs Nadal in three weeks though.

Presumably Thiem should win on Sunday.  Would be a deserving champion.

This is tragic, Thiem is clearly injured. 

Also annoying because people who don't know much about tennis may watch and think Thiem is just nervous or something, but he's clearly not landing his feet properly after a backhand, or moving well like he normally does.

His movement has definitely improved in the last 20 minutes though.

That was a joke of a stat. The players were standing in the tribune. What a slugfest it was and this stat showed more about where the players were standing than any volley skill.

Thiem playing a little better now.  Still nowhere near as well as vs Medvedev, but vs Zverev this might be good enough, if he can keep it up.

Zverev's serving this set has been a joke.  He served a DF where I think he served 1st serve at 96MPH and 2nd at 130MPH.  Obviously he is super nervous.

Saying that, Theim is showing some fight now but Zverev let him back into it.  A bit of adversity and he fell apart like cheap lego.

Useless.  His serve's been a joke too.  At least we have to have a new winner of a slam tonight - because either of these two against Djok or Nadal and even Grandpa and I think they'd blow it.

This was a good game plan from Thiem.  Zverev was not going to be nervous initially, being the underdog.  But when Thiem got him to two sets and a break up, he had him where he needed - Zverev is now thinking he should have been winning this, and is unable to focus.
