Fed goes home, embarrassing show up, first set ok, then totally outplayed by Tommy boy.

Haas is closer to his prime though.

Fed done a show up, collect money, let local boy win, go to Halle. git.

nothing to stress over,i remember him losing  his first match at MC the same year that he went on to win RG
didnt see the match but it sounds like roger needs some matches under his belt
good thing that he has another shot at getting match fit in Halle before going into wimbledon

So for last 2 months he has not even walked on grass at all?

It's just money, sport is good at making you rich, sport is sponsored by rich companies, especially these Betting fucks who have ruined the sport and should be banned, so I vote 51% chance that GS matches have a been fixed and do get fixed, especially by large sponsors, who ATP must keep happy.

there was a match fixing scandal on the challengers tour in spain last year and i recall many years ago when murray first burst onto the scene he mentioned something about match fixing,or implied something along those lines 
it was then reported that he was questioned ( sounded more like a warning) about it by the ITF and he never spoke or heard of it again
there was apparently also another scandal which happened to involve federers IMG agent making bets at RG

federer admits that his lapses in form came from a lack of match play

Haas isn't a crap player and Fed threw it away from being in a commanding lead. He plays better in Slams anyway, but he can't keep winning at 35 years of age... so dont expect Aussie Open 2017 to be any kind of norm. It was a massive exception.

could make him very vulnerable in the first week

It's bizarre that they can play a slam without any trace of injury and then fear for injury after a 2 week rest.

I can only assume that they are on heavy antiflamatory drugs during the slam and then feel the pain when reducing the ibu doses.

In any case, it's not very healthy.

that is bizarre but i think that he is just taking a break like federer did
youre most prone to injuring yourself when youre competing or doing very strenuous exercises while youre physically tired 
nadal isnt 22 anymore,the clay season must have taken a lot out of him

But seriously: No matter what Nadal says or does, it's always dubious to me. I don't believe him, don't trust him, don't like him. 
He has a great professional record though

i tend to have the exact same opinion,ususally dont trust a word that comes out of his camp,you have to second guess and question the motive of everything they do or  say,nadal himself always trying cheat every possible chance he gets,but i do think that the excuse they are giving is plausible 
i also believe that since his uncle has had less control and influence over him and his career,he does seem to come across far more honest and far less deceptive

Some nice grass tennis between M.Zverev and F. Lopez today.

Not the very smoothest of skill, but the heart was there - both knew how to play it properly rushing to the net almost all the time.

Then Paire and Pouille...the baseline generation with cleaner groundstrokes and even some nice volleys,  but baseliners at heart. "Modern" tennis. I expected more flair.

Even Fed vs Haas the other day was glued to it, though I only saw the third set.

Grass in Sruttgart was nice and fast.

It should be a good final tomorrow.

I was so sure Fed would make the weekend matches. There was nobody looking very dangerous in the draw. When I saw the score it was 6:2 1:1 so I thought Fed would safely cruise.

Anyway, no big deal and it might even be better since he will not run the risk of overplaying before Wimbledon. But he needs to have a better outing in Halle.

And Rublev, by beating Ramos-vinola, makes his first entry in the top 100...not that impressive in view of the success of other youngsters. His progress certainly hit a wall for a while.
