Yes, that was so weird.
He hit a fantastic one before that.
One of my favourite shots from him.
Hopefully he'll relax now and play smoothly.

Set 1 in the bag, Fed does not seem like a favorite for the W at all, even Djoko will crush him in this state.

Looking at the state of grass in Halle, it looks pretty worn, yet it's playing fast (or maybe players are making it look fast).
That means the underlay is different from Wimbledon

I like Misha Zverev.
Nice player...
Funny how he only came out of nowhere once his "star"baby brother turned up on the scene.

Fantastic point from both players.
And what a pass from Fed to seal the break. Great reflexes.
This match will give him lots of confidence.

Halle central court looks like The Centre Court with all these green boards and seats around...I don't remember it looking like that in the past.

There is no reason why Rubi should lose to Katchanov.

Rublev save 3 or 4 SP, has one of his own but loses a very close TB.

He defends well actually for a tall guy and brings quite a few balls back. Often it is in Rublev's racquet I agree but too many mistakes...... wrote:There is no reason why Rubi should lose to Katchanov.

I love Little Drahon's huffy&puffy face...and it's still at the point of contact!
This Katch is not my cupt of tea...too tall for tennis.
Those players just bring raw stuff to the table.

I've only seen Kach at RG, and was quite impressed. Reminded me of Safin.

I thought those inside top 100 don't play qualifications.
If he wins today he'll be around 70 I think.

Fed fisting too much lately, you cant fist against Mayer, MZverez and these low ranked players, fine if beating any of the top 5.

That would only be true if everyone did it and they never will. So I will keep betting. I have Zverev on 5 quid to win Halle and 5 to win wimby (also got 10 i think or it might be 20 on kyrgios to win wimby).

Fed playing Kachanov in Halle semis. Very rusty. Slicing the ball much more than he was in Aus earlier this year.

Re: Grass - 2017
This Katchanov is not bad, in fact.
He times the ball really well, how old is he, 18-19?
JJ looked promising in a similar way once upon a time.
He needs to build his game, come forward more, learn new shots...does he jave IQ for that or will he be happy just to make a few bucks and be a star in Russia...

I am starting to lke him, nice temper.
Btw, did I just see Fed give HIMSELF a clap with the racquet for that volley!
Talking of volleys, would a super timed volley like that which sucked up all the incoming pace from a guy like Katchanov be the most satisfying kind of shot?

Re: Grass - 2017
You should have seen my volley the other day ...
I turned my back to avoid getting hit by a smash, he hit it right into the middle of my strings and it flew back past both of them for a clean winner. I wasn't even looking!

Re: Grass - 2017
That was a really decent match, shame it didn't go to three sets, Katch stuffed that fh, was too eager.
Doesn't matter, the idea was right, and that's all what matters, better than calculating A. Zverev!
Was cute to see Rubi in his box.

Fed looking very poor compared to how he played in spring. I hope it is just rust and he finds his form for Wimbledon, because he is certainly not winning it if he plays like this.

Grass is the toughest, fastest surface, you can't hide anything on it.
It's not a coincidence Murray got knowcked out and Nadal is in the hiding, preserving his clay aura.
Federer was striking the ball well, only his movement amd footspeed needs more matches. Katch was no pushover, at all.
From memory, Fed's always looked rusty in Halle.
It's quite normal.

So W is slower then Halle, then Fed should do better there i.e more fluid play?
He ain't nowhere near moving like at AO/Post AO.

None of the lightning fast movement forward amd when he did he often netted his volleys.
Call me funny, but he's been playing like Ljubicic in Halle!
