Yeah but those runs look to me like a run of fortune cause you see him lose ridiculous matches in the meantime.

i disagree,i think that run up to both semi finals made at wimbledon and the AO were down to playing some outstanding tennisTenez wrote:Yeah but those runs look to me like a run of fortune cause you see him lose ridiculous matches in the meantime.
he definitely has the game and talent,he just needs to be more consistent and tougher mentally

Re: Grass - 2017
And Kyrgios calls it a day after losing the tiebreak.
He fell down at 4-4, looked in serious pain right away.
I wouldn't put him in the list of contenders at Wimbledon anyway. He's a great shotmaker but he doesn't seem to be in his place on grass. Looks lanky

Great win for Rubi.Tenez wrote:And Rublev, by beating Ramos-vinola, makes his first entry in the top 100...not that impressive in view of the success of other youngsters. His progress certainly hit a wall for a while.
I saw the last two games, he is still a dragon and exciting to watch.
That FH!!!
And he was a break down in all three sets, not bad for him
I am glad he justified the WC.

I think Kyrgios is lazy and not fit enough, esp for today's game, that's why he gets injured so often.gallery play wrote:And Kyrgios calls it a day after losing the tiebreak.

He did beat Nadal a few years ago in Wimbledon...that's the last time I liked him, hehe.
Also weakminded, only able to play his best if he is playing the very best...and even then he caves in and collapses if he is losing (last year vs Murray)
Though, there has been so much match fixing I don't know what to believe any more.
Tennis is losing its appeal very fast.

Yes, Dimi is a good grass court player, I think he is still recovering frim his loss to Nadal in AO.
That was his best match ever, he should've won, he fought like a lion, quite moving.

Murray played well in RG, well enough to be called one of the W favourites.Veejay wrote:murray defend a grand slam/wimbledon title...??
ill believe it when i see it
dimitrov certainly looking a contender for the queens title
He is fit and consistent, plus home crowd...and that was enough last year, sad, but true.
I didn't even bother watching the final. It could not get uglier for me.

Another young & exciting Russian (Canadian) player, Shapalov.
Just turned 18, lefty sbh.
And lookong so natural on grass (though no volleys)
I haven't said it for a long time, so I feel I can
Ban double handed backhand!!!!!

yes. I have been watching him v Edmund. very impressed!
His BH is really good for his age. He looks a better player than Rublev already.
I think he is going to kill Zverev in the furture. His FH is also amazing.

wow...just realised that Shapo is only 6'. I thought he was another 6'5+ kind of guy.
This makes him even more impressing than I thought. His serve is extremely good for his size. A pure talent.

Yes, Shapalov is not a percentage player nor is he a basher, he is natural...a rarity among young players.
Look at Edmund, he bores me to death.
And as I type this, Shap wins!

Re: Grass - 2017
Yes, he's an interesting player.
He has about 90% there, maybe work on serve and volleys.
The rest is just inexperience.
But as you say, aleady with a decent, proper game.
And some very nice BH angles. Plus he is so confident with it.
And only 18!
I am curious how he managed to escape the dull moulding a la Pospisil & Raonic.
He is bursting with the right kind of tennis energy.

Ok. I may have been a bit too enthusiatic about Rublev...time will tell...but this Shapo is really impressive and his SHBH shows the raw talent. I think he is going to be the real deal. Not the grace of Federer but probably close in terms of talent. His BHs are by far the best out there. Better than Dimi and Thiem.

he simpy isnt disciplined and focused enough on court, theres always some kind of drama
all the clown behaviour has to go,he certainly has the potential to be a grand slam winner but he needs to get his attitude and head in the right place first

Stan already out. No surprises. His backhand is useless on grass - He likes it slower. He just isn't cut for grass at all.

you obviously didnt see the match
stan was clearly struggling with some nagging knee injury which was prohibiting his movement
he nearly knocked federer out at wimbledon a few years back,he also pushed murray to a 5th set nearly knocking him out at wimbledon too..so i dont know how you can say he isnt cut for gras at all
looks to me like the over 30's are starting to feel the season in their joints now..murray also looks to be struggling with some hip injury/stiffness as im typing this
federer off to a winning start in halle..hope that he keeps it up
he should be liking his chances with all these players looking injured

Re: Grass - 2017
what a win by jordan thompson!! world no 90 knocks out world no1 on his favourite surface!!
so no history to be made for murray at queens
of course murray played no where near his best but thompson really took the match to murray and played some brilliant tennis
the great thing about this is that we dont have to hear all the murray worshipping/ass licking all week long from the likes sue barker andrew castle and john lloyd
now we can really enjoy queens!!
what a day at queens world no1,no3 and no6 knocked out!!

poor victims of the grenfell tower...
murray was going to donate his winnings from queens to help the victims...they wont be getting much now...
instead of making history at queens murrays run of breaking serve in 136 consecutive matches come to an end

He's rubbish anyway. Such a limited plodder. Nearly lost to a one legged Fed last year. If Federer's fit I'd expect him to beat Raonic in str8 sets - similar to the score from the semi in 2014.

murray should have shut up and waited till he went deep into the tournament before making such a charitable statementJahu wrote:He has little in his Bank acc I assume and chose only this prize money to donate?

now its turned into a PR disaster for him cause he barely looked like he was trying to win plus he only walks away with something like 12 grand..
i agree its best he just puts his money where his mouth is and donate the same amount he would have if he had won
its hardly going to put a dent into his almost $60 million earnings

Re: Grass - 2017
sure he has over 100M, heck 200M probably, so why does he have to bark it out that Queens Tournament money will be for them? Should of donated his scottish pounds next few days after the tragedy and not tie his help to a Tournament prize money, and why does he have to wait for this prize money anyway to help people who are sleeping on the street? Does he have a PR, mother wife or someone to tell him Oi, get on the fucking e-banking app or call your Private Banker at Coutts and push 1M to whoever charity is helping Grenfell victims, moron!!!

i dont agree with publicising your charity donations either,it doesnt come across sincere and genuine to meEmancipator wrote:Never understood the need to publicise your charity donations. Foundations and ongoing work yes but one off donations - just give the damn money and don't tell anyone.
its all just pr to make the person look good and like they are doing their part
if they werent famous or living in the public would they still do it if they could?
i doubt that would be the case for many, cause i only think that they are donating money cause they are expected to
but doing something like what federer does, the charity matches,or the manchester pop concert i think is very different cause they are actually doing something to raise money for the victims
thats time and effort and it shows that they genuinely care enough to try and help
this is why murrays charitable attempt is a pr disaster,he didnt look like he was fighting to win the victims some money

Yes but W seeds with a formula based on last 12 months grass performance so Fed not grazed much on grass last 12 months.

Re: Grass - 2017
The Committee seeds the top players and pairs on the basis of their rankings, but it can change the seedings based on a player's previous grass court performance. Since 2002 a seeding committee has not been required for the Gentlemen's Singles following an agreement with the ATP. While the seeds are still the top 32 players according to rankings, the seeding order is determined using the formula: ATP Entry System Position points + 100% points earned for all grass court tournaments in the past 12 months + 75% points earned for the best grass court tournament in the 12 months before that.[22]

He needs one more win to get the Number 4 seed at Wimbledon, not the Number 4 ranking. As Jahu says, Wimbledon uses a special formula taking into account grass court performance. One more win will give Fed sufficient "bonus" points to get seeded above Stan.

I saw the highlights of Federer-Sugita.
It looked more like a baseline hitting practice than a match.
Tomorrow is going to be a proper grass show with M.Zverev who played a very good match vs Lopez in Stuttgart.
