Monfils can't beat the big 3 to save his life in slams, only came close against Fed once when Fed had a bad back and he could barely move. I would be interested if MB gets through GM cause u dunno what he can bring against the 2 favs, we already know what GM will do in a match vs Nadal and it never works.

federer has reached 7 finals in new york and Rafa has reached 4


In the previous 13 occasions (not counting 2019), 10 times they could have only met in the final

and actually, in 9 of those 10 times, one of them reached the final (Roger 7 times and Rafa 2 times)


for more than a decade and a half it was not possible to see a fedal in new york despite both of them performing rather greatly ... so stats say it wont happen either this time.

Medvedev a game away from going 2up on Stan.

There is a lot of djokovic in Medvedev. With a bit more style, Medv is just a retriever....and like Djoko he invested in a slim body and mouvement to last teh distance. 

It is never going to be easy for attacking players in such slow conditions.

I would not be surprised if Stan were going to win that match.

And in 2010, Djoko had only one slam if I remember ....won against a mono-Fed....If I am not mistaking.

He was 23 when he won Aus in 2011. Beat Feds in sf and Murray in final.

A match Fed would have won easily with his new racquet. That BH was such a liability on those slower courts. How on earth did he not adapt to a larger frame then?

Just got home, Fed up a break already.  Hopefully the sign of the things to come the rest of the night.

6:3 first set.  Cool

Fed playing ok but not brilliant.  Dimi quite flaky so far.

Fed broken

Dimi cutting down on the errors, and Federer unable to raise his own game thus far.

Breaks back when Dimi cannot serve the set out.  Fed played really well up to 30-40, and then Dimi helped him with a DF.

But Fed gets broken again and loses the set.  Not what I was expecting to see today.  Sad.

Fed's game is full of UEs. I don;t like his game nowadays.....he looks stiff and the grace is gone. 

Saves tons of BPs due to a very poor first serve to avoid being double break down in that 4th set.

I don;t thnk he is going that match let alone the tournament.

The fifth set is here.  Except for the first set, Dimi has been the better player.  Fed is lucky this is not done yet.

Dimi playing well, but mostly Fed well below par.

Interesting to note that while Federer had a more limiting injury than Djokovic, he kept going despite being a double break down, while Djokovic just quit.

What's depressing is that Nadal will get to another final of the USO without meeting a top 20 seed.

Those MP's would have spurred him on to right the wrong, there's some mental barrier issue he's had at this slam for a while now and it's probably the last chance of a 6th USO title, gone just like that.

Slow yes I agree. But its not clay, so the very high bounce of clay is still not there. It doesn't suit Fed's game but he is good enough to play well. 


Putting Djoko on Fed's side? First this is NOT true. Just from memory I can say Fed and Djoko were NOT on the same half in 2012 and 2014 USopen and Fed still didn't make it to the finals.

In the last 11 USO since 2009+, Fed and DJoko have only met 3 times and Fed has lost all 3. But what about the other 8 times? He has loses to Berdych, Robrado, Cilic, Millman, 2 times to Delpo and now to Dimitrov. On 4 of these occasions , DJoko was already gone from the draw before Fed lost. 

If its simple kindly explain how does Fed's poor show is attributed to Djoko being present in Fed's half? Unless you believe in some black magic, it makes no sense.

This draw rigging even if its true, doesn't impact the final outcome. Fed played crap, simple as that.
