What a dull day, Thiem retired and Marchenko looks like he is playing Challengers...how on earth dis he make it to the last 16...
Even Stan looks boring now compared ro electric performance from Pouille last night...must have been match of the tournament.

Re: US open prediction game - day 8
Venus was match point down in the TB. Pliskova hits a shot (looks long) but Venus plays the shot and she hits it out. Pliskova thinks she's won. Venus then challenges and the umpire allows it and the ball is out.
Poor umpiring. Pliskova won the next point, but shouldn't have been allowed to challenge.

Stan through in 4. Not been impressed with him at all. Delpo will take him out I reckon.

He looks quite fit, but as atenez says - the courts are too fast for him, esp in day sessions.

That goes on a lot, not easy to judge well as the ball flies fast and sometimes players react to the ball before their brain registers what's happened.legendkillar wrote:Venus was match point down in the TB. Glad Pliskova won, though she looks like a giraffe.

Re: US open prediction game - day 8
Very bad umpiring in the Venus match, clearly very bias towards Venus
There was another call that Venus challenged and lost but the umpire said that they should replay the point
Pliskova handled it all with a lot of class never once argued with all the bad umpiring calls even though the crowd were clearly on Venus' side cheering very time Pliskova made an error
It was really nice to see Venus play some of her best tennis again, for moments in the 1st set she looked like the 07 Wimbledon winner again
Really really competitive match filled with drama, could have gone either way but a well deserved win for Pliskova

karlo is out. But it was good to see he had the crowd behind him. Must not happen too often.

With his ankles strap as well and orthopedic shoes......complete opposite to tennis elegance. Even Agassi or Nadal in his sleeveless shirt looked more elegant.

Well, I am disappointed by this immature 1st set "capitulation" from Dimi.
He is doing a "Paire" but Paire he is not.

Djokovic surely a guaranteed finalist.
Murrays draw getting interesting. Have a feeling all that tennis will catch him up.

Tsonga isn't a push over. I have no idea why people jump to the conclusion that getting to the final is just a foregone conclusion. It isn't. He has to win the matches against players who can beat him. I very much doubt you'd put any large bet on it.
As for Dimitrov, he made Murray look good.

Very interesting top half now...Nole vs 3 Frenchies!
Not sure he is a guaranteed finalist, maybe if he was 100%.
He asked for the slower, evening session and got it.
I just want Pouille to beat Monfils today.
I actually missed hm yesterday....the most exciting player left in the draw.

Or Dumby....
His confidence from recent good play melted like English snow...it took only one game for his fragile ego to get the better of him.
That first long rally in which Murray schooled him and told him he has no chance from the base line...
And then he gave up!
He could have at least tried...

Dimi is a total mug. Seen more fight in a plastic bag caught in the wind!
Think Djokovic is more or less guaranteed. Playing very mentally fragile players.

He's playing Tsonga - a guy who trounced Nadal in his prime, and beat Federer from 2 sets down at Wimbledon. It isn't a push over.

Tsonga and Monfils may be fragile but Pouille isn't.
If they played day session, then Tsonga would have a small chance.
But as I think Nole is not 100% , anything is possible.

if tsonga gets hot he can blow anyone off the court with his serve alone, problem is he is very inconsistent throughout a match and can never really hold that level of play up for longer then 2 setsFedererKing wrote:He's playing Tsonga - a guy who trounced Nadal in his prime, and beat Federer from 2 sets down at Wimbledon. That's true, but the whole "Oh he's in the final" is very naive indeed. He has to beat 2 very good opponents and avoid injury. I wager that no-one saying that would go and put their money where their mouth is.
Tsonga is not "very mentally fragile" and nor is Pouille. Mentally fragile players don't beat Nadal in a final set tiebreaker with a winner - or come back from 2 sets down against Federer at Wimbledon (even the lesser player Fed was at the time v 2004-9 - and esp 2004-7).

i dont know, those 2 matches to me are very rare exceptions with regards to tsonga, the amount of times he should have beaten murray but ended up losing makes me think he isnt as mentally tough as people may think he isFedererKing wrote:Veejay wrote:if tsonga gets hot he can blow anyone off the court with his serve alone, problem is he is very inconsistent throughout a match and can never really hold that level of play up for longer then 2 setsFedererKing wrote:He's playing Tsonga - a guy who trounced Nadal in his prime, and beat Federer from 2 sets down at Wimbledon. i can think of at least 2 matches at wimbledon against murray where he had the match on his racket but literally blew it
sometimes he makes really costly decisions by choosing not to play a ball thinking that its going to go out and then it drops in

Tsonga can and has beaten everyone when playing well. He can beat Djokovic. You guys gave Wawrinka no chance at RG against Djok once, and I made hundreds out of the bookie.

He beat Federer and Nadal over 5... so yeah. He can.
A little song I put together.
Novak won't be lasting much longer
That's because he is soon to meet Tsonga
Novak will try, but he be too slow
Not like the guy that we all call JO!
Novak can run, but he cannot dance
So viva la Tsonga and viva la France!
edit.
And he's already beaten Djok in a bo5.

Re: US open prediction game - day 8
Well, it's the crap Tsonga who has shown up. This guy used ultra variety to absolutely sink Nadal - and he's back here trying to out rally Novak. Why are all these players so pathetic with variety? Don't they realize that Novak's stremgth is scrambling to points with modern easy racquets? Do some underarm serves once in a while, do some short balls, drop shots - and a lot of attacking net approaches.
But no... they just carry on with the same doomed strategy. There were SO MANY opportunities for a drop shot or short ball or net approach - and Tsonga just knocked it back to continue the rally. It's not good. If Novak gets to the final, it might be against Murray and that will be a right bore.
Del Potro is the only player willing to take the time away from baseline bores. And he can win.

You should be playing FK instead of commenting.
You seem to have all the solutions to beat Djoko and Murray.
Just your predictions are not too sharp. Hope you dont bet cause you would be losing lots of money.

So another retirement against Djokovic. These players aren't men because they don't have the balls to put up a fight.
It's all very well saying Djokovic will decline, yet it helps that other players peak first!
