Who Is Going To Win USO 2018
USO 2018 Talk
We’ve got one more slam left in 2018...and maybe the last slam in which we’ll see the big 3-4 all in their competitive prime.
Nole’s win in Wimbledon has poured cold water over Nadal’s quest for GOAThood, and Fed looked quite vulnerable, though I am still not writing him off.
Nadal is just a rampant physical beast, full stop.
At this stage I am not considering anyone else in the title conversation although Kev and Cilic and probably a few others could be dangerous up to the SF...
The biggest and most important is how slow USO will play.
With Nike now having only Nadal and Serena, I am assuming it will be super slow which of course sucks!!!
Not to mention the rigged draws...
Very good decision by Fed to skip Toronto, that is telling me he means business in NY.
What do you all think?

Interesting that you've made Djok and Fed as one of the faves to win... given there is no proof Djok is back like before... and Fed hasn't won it in how long? And Nadal needed the easiest draw known to man last time.
Zverev, Kyrgios, Anderson, Cilic... all have more chance imho than Nadal and Fed.

After all Fed, Nadal and Nole have shared the three slams this year...and 50 out of the last 60...there was nothing stopping Anderson and co to spoil that party for the last 10 years...

Re: USO 2018 Talk
Rafa’s last three hard court slams have seen him win one, lose a very close final in one and have to retire injured when looking good in the other. Given he only lost very narrowly to Novak at Wimbledon, where the courts suit him less, I’d make him favourite here.
Novak second favourite and Fed third. Everyone else is likely to be an also-ran.

I hope Nole gets drawn in Nadal’s quarter. That would be brilliant.
Tough chance, though....

25% chance but I don’t think that’s ideal at all. Hopefully Novak will be in Zverev’s quarter, giving us a more balanced draw.

Naaaaah, since when have draws in USO ever been balanced?
I say let’s have a Nolee-Nadal QF blockbuster.
Bring it ooooon!

The bookies agree with you?
Clearly you have no idea how bookies work. They work based on the odds but also HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE BETTING ON A CERTAIN OUTCOME.
If Federer had half a leg, he'd still be a "favourite". The bookies work based on net profit.
Loads of people will always bet on Federer to win.
That's how it works. Real term odds of Federer winning are way slimmer based on the last, you know, decade.
Or put this an easier way... The bookies have been wrong about Federer being one of the favourites for US Open an awful lot recently. And Nadal too off clay.
The bookies agreed with you the last 10 years and lost 10 times. But they still made a massive profit.

And given that he only one last year due to the easiest draw ever, I'd say the chances are much slimmer than you think. What's his record off clay like these last 5 years?

I'll go with Delpotro. Fed also depending on his form/fitness going into the USopen.

Re: USO 2018 Talk
One always sees the last slam champion as a hot favourite... it is normal I guess
Novak showed he is back and hardcourt is his favourite surface...
Nadal is also in good form as it could be seen in the clay season and in wimbledon, where he did a great tournament and also a great semifinal, lost only in a few details.
I dont know what to expect from federer
as for a new winner... each slam we get closer to that happening I guess, but cant see it now

Re: USO 2018 Talk
I really doubt we'll get a new winner.
Djokovic and Nadal both played great at Wimbledon. If either can replicate that form, have a great shot at USO. Del Potro is a contender, but I think he'll pull off 1 big win max, don't see him pulling off 2 in a row to win the title.
Federer needs to improve on his Wimbledon display, obviously, but I wouldn't bet against him either. Scheduling is just Cincy as build up this time, which is better strategy than what he did last year. Maybe he's in a position where Nadal is sometimes heading into Monte Carlo, he needs a big win to boost his confidence.
Anderson, Kyrgios, Zverev, etc. sorry forget it

Re: USO 2018 Talk
Except I was totally right about Fed having no chance.... You missed that bit.
Also, that was based on the US Open being at least as fast as last year and not the slowest in 20 years. Whoops.... guess you missed that bit too?
Because you're rather thick, I'll have to make it more simple for you - Because they totally slowed down the surface... all predictions made that were valid at the time they were made were not valid once that change is factored in.
Too difficult for you?
Let's try this: No-one could predict they'd butcher the surface to this degree just to help your arse wipe of an idol.
Only someone as clueless as you would try to score points by expecting me to know this would be the slowest US Open in history + Nadal having another easy draw at the same time.
If I make a prediction now that Nadal will win clay - and then RG turns to grass, would you come here saying the same?.

you know what? you are right
having changed conditions, all predictions were futile
wonder if bookies could sue usopen for this

Looks like your darling didn't make it either. So I was 2 for 2 on that front, wasn't I?
Also - bookies win because upsets happen. And changes like this are what they thrive on. I didn't make any bets.

Re: USO 2018 Talk
You may want to tell that to Nadal... he's just had a press conference stating that he was injured all way through tournament and knew from first game that it was all over - taking away victory from Delpo all the way through the interview.

Those aren't conclusions. They are facts. He states that he was injured and was injured long before this match. And he talks about injuries all the way through.
Not conclusions. Facts.
There's no other way to look at it.
Accept it. Your hero is a cunt. There's a reason I pray for him to break a leg.

Dani, you always seem to be mad at something
if you dislike rafa so much, today is a good day for you, enjoy it.
on the other hand, I think a delpo - novak final will be very interesting, so all tennis fans are lucky

I don't like cheats or their appeasers.
And I won't be "happy" til Nadal is gone.
