I doubt Novak has ever hit a better volley in his life!

This Djokovic needs to lose before the final. He won’t take 5 games from Nadal.

Unreal rally again as Cecc saves the set point - 8-8.

The important thing is he is getting back near his best. I think RG is too early for him but he’s getting closer. Wimbledon is where we could really see his top level.bogbrush wrote:This Djokovic needs to lose before the final. He won’t take 5 games from Nadal.

Wow - random serve volley from Novak and Cecc finds a loopy mishit winner to put him out! Great match.

Enormous for Cecchinato - in the SF with a career w/l record on the main tour of 17-32!

First time in 7 years that Djokovic is knocked out of the French Open by an Italian.

He’s done Thiem a favour. At least Nadal won’t be facing a tired opponent.

I must say that Djokovic is perhaps the most gracious loser I can remember.

I always say this about him - he applauds his opponent's good shots, I remember in particular his conduct after losing to Murray in the Wimbledon Final in 2013 was immaculate.

Apparently he didn’t go into the main press conference room, bizarre.

waiting for my Eurostar in Paris reading about the match....looks like this loss is going to sting badly.
I can imagine it as if I have seen it.
Problem is, Nole thought he had this one in the bag...
Well we have a few days more of this agony and then Maestro is going to sooth our pain....

Normally I would root for Thiem vs Zverev but I somehow think that Zverev would have a better chance vs Rafa.
Not only we're looking at an incredible weak field, also the draw couldn't have been easier for Nadal. And then the so called tough weather conditions....
Yes, this was by far he worst RG in a long time.
And every day gets worse and worse as the trophy biting anticlimax is nearing...

I am impressed by this Italian, he must be a pretty stable and good player to come trhough Djokovic in the quarters.
I’ve never seen him play, does he have a chance against Thiem?

Thanks for the leads.
Extraordinary. A strange guy, so magnanimous on court and so angry in other situations.

Good to see Djoko lose, now those (fakely) feeling sorry for him, let's not forget this prick used to ripoff t-shirts, say to public suck my dick, shout at ball boys and lost 2 W to Fed, sweet to see him falling apart

A few here kind of wishing him a quick return, this and that, no one cares for him, he is history, Thiem is Future...

I cannot say I am unhappy about the results. In the end, I was rooting for both Thiem and Cecchinato - could not help it. Rafa is now assured a SHBH opponent in the final. Sweet.

I know. It has the feeling of standing on train tracks in the middle of a Russian steppe with a freight train coming at you and you hoping it will somehow miss you.gallery play wrote:SB and others: let it go! Still... Good luck to Diego tomorrow, let's hope he can do it, or at least tire Rafa. Maybe it could rain all day and their match would get rescheduled to Thursday...

Seriously, I do not see it. From what I have seen of Nole, he is still very poor compared to his old standard. And results are not great either. Last year he made final in Rome, QF at RG and won Eastbourne. His results this year are at best comparable. But last year was a horrible year for him.

That should be good. But is he assured of his own final? Delpo might have other ideas.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He will be 6 months older than he was at AO, and at his age things can fall apart quickly. For all we know, he has further and more severe back issues, will go to Wimbledon only to see if he can play through it, and if not, will retire right after that.noleisthebest wrote:Well we have a few days more of this agony and then Maestro is going to sooth our pain....

Yep...I am not very hopeful of Federer's remaining year. His chance is not many top players are hitting form either.
