Wimbledon - Wimbledon tickets Empty Wimbledon tickets

Post by summerblues Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:22 am

I might be in London sometime around the first week of Wimbledon - but will not know for sure until closer to then.  If so, I might try to go see some tennis smiley

Is it possible to get tickets on a relatively short notice (say 2-4 weeks)?  I might be ok with a grounds pass if main court tickets cannot be had, or are too pricey, but I will not have time to be lining up overnight.  How much should I expect to pay?

Thank you for your advice in advance.

Hi SB,

you have several options...all depend on your budget.

The easiest one is to get package tours that include tickets...I've seen those and they are all based in the States.

You can also buy Debenture tickets which are now more expensive than ever and are really not worth the money unless you are watching QF day onwards...

The other option is to buy tickets on Gumtree...they will come out in May/June as club and general ballot people start selling them...although it's not legal, but who cares.
I can't stand Wimbledon's ticket policy which is different to any other slam or event in the world where you can just buy the ticket from the site  or resale...but I get that's them trying to big up their own image...and be "fair" to everyone which is a load of BS.
Most of people in my club who get tickets don't have a clue about tennis... their idea is to come back and tell us "they've seen Nadal or Murray etc..." and if they haven't been to CC or C1 they are ashamed to even mention it...Doh

So, that's a quite good way of getting a ticket.

Since you'll be here in week one, the cheapest and safest, though not that comfortable scenario would be to simply queue.

Whatever you do don't even bother queuing up on the days Murray is playing...every Tom, Dick and Harry will be there...

Otherwise, if you turn up at 7am, you'll almost certainly be in by 11 and hopefully have nice weather and the time of your life! Magic

Thanks nitb, this is immensely helpful. Maybe I will just play it by ear and if things work out, will line up in the morning after all.

USO is so much easier - you can always buy resale tickets at any time.

Hi SB.
So if you want to get ground pass tickets you need to queue up fairly early. The earlier in the week you go, the better.
This is because there are lots of seeded players who play on the non ticketed courts.
I queued up a few years ago with my mates at 5am and it took me 5 hours or so before I got in with them.
We went on a Friday I think and managed to get onto the non ticketed part of court 3, just.
Ive got the whole week booked off to try and FINALLY SEE FEDS!
