Can see this reigniting the GOAT debate in decades to come! Especially on the seed reduction side which was always long over due.

Shot clock was always the most pragmatic solution moving forward for time violations. Why it took so long as above is beyond me.

Yes this rule has been a joke since nadal came on board cause we know players respected it before. But the reason it took so long is simple. It is the same reasons which allowed lance to dope at will. Those guys sell. It is that simple.

The question is more like, why now? I think the answer might be that it is time we create new selling icons.

At AO, Rafa will lose every one of his service games to love, having failed to put a single serve in play on time.

Well I think he played on it as well. His routine, his bottles placement, etc...he certainly wanted to entertain it.
