Not that it makes much of a difference, just read Kyrgios and Berdych are out for the rest of the season.

So it looks like KA and QUerrey will fight it out for the last spot with Busta...

KA would be my preferred choice.
It's weird to see another 2 players taking the rest of the year off. Don;t they care about their job? That's nearly 3 months off!

So Delpo and even Tsonga have an outside chance of making it to London. Anyone but Busta!

Re: Race to London
I only see zverev some what capable of preventing a Nadal-Federer final. Rest others will just show up and get beaten.
Thiem is my candidate for losing all his matches, perhaps all in st. sets too.

interesting
I would always prefer an all rounded player like him, better than a big server like querrey or anderson (as they are contenders with him for the race)

Re: Race to London
So Goffin is pretty much there and Delpo and Tsonga have come into the mix but Busta is still out in front for that final spot.
Busta, Querrey and Anderson are bang out of form but I feel the former will sneak it

Absolutely! Else Busta or Anderson are just going to come and be the punching bag, imbalance the 2 Groups, take their match fee and leave. I don't want any boring days in WTF matches.

I had s look at the table, it looks like Delpo, Tsonga, Pouille all have a chance to qualify, amd Goffin’s place isn’t set in stone either.
Good news is Busta and Querrey are out.

They all have to go deep though to be in with a chance. Pouille's draw is pretty kind, he could come in out of nowhere!

Re: Race to London
They are all in the same half, Omthink Tsonga is on course to play Goffin, not sure if that would knock Goffin out etc.
I wish Delpo, Tsonga, Goffin and Pouille could all play instead of Cilic and Thiem who are going to ruin the tournament.
At least the wretched Raonic and Berdych aren’t there any more...

Pouille is in the bottom half and his run to the final could be: Lopez, Sock, THiem, Cilic/Goffin.
That is doable.

Re: Race to London
Yes, the bottom half looks very interesting, everyone bar Delpo is there...at least we know Kev, Goffin, Pouille and Tsonga will make an effort...
I suppose whoever of all of them makes the final or semi will qualify?
Delpo is a must, the only decent competitor among them all who doesn’t choke...followed by Goffin.
He would definitely raise the level quality of WTF and make it interesting.
We’ve had some horrible ones in the last few years..

I have tuned in...
When you see what pathetic tennis Nadal is playing and how beatable he looks indoors it is even more frustrating Federer is not playing in Paris.
What a joke of a number one player.

Great hold by Chung.
He is an interesting player, quite cerebral, lot of guile.
Like a new, baseline brand of instinctive tennis.

So if DP reaches the semis, only Tsonga can stop him now by getting to the finals

either Tsonga and/or Delpo would need to reach SF to kick Busta out of London.

Call me a conspirasist, but I think Busta lost in r1 because he was told to.
Same with Querrey and Kev.
WTF can’t afford anither disaster of a tournament esp as Murray is not playing.

Nitb, Goffin is 7th and Busta is in the last spot. Pouille only needs to overtake Busta, unless Delpo leapfrogs Goff, then Pouille will need to win the whole thing i think.

Delpo won win away from leapfrogging Busta!
Pouille out of the running, Goffin loses but is 7th in the race.

Delpo's gone
Only Isner and Sock can stop Busta from qualifying. For that to happen, they need to win the title.

Re: Race to London
So the draw is out:
Sampras Group: Nadal, Thiem, Dimitrov, Goffin
Becker Group: Federer, Zverev, Cillic, Sock
Fair to say Nadal has quite the tricky group. Hoping Thiem can do something.
Federer you'd fancy against Cillic and Sock. Zverev possibly being the main threat in that group.
Fedal it is.

Let's hope he's there, such a shame if he's not. The two old warriors have had such magnificent years and I'd love to see them both competing once more.

Re: Race to London
Yeah, I'm really hoping Nadal not only plays, but is fully fit. The way Fed is playing, the only way Nadal can make it competitive is if his knee is ok. Tough ask as he arguably has to build up confidence once again, so fingers crossed.barrystar wrote:DECIMA wrote:Yeah I watched him practice and he couldn't bend his knee.naxroy wrote:I have the feeling nadal isnt playing

Some good news is Moya said Nadal does have a good shot to enter the tournament.
Btw Barrystar I am 'IMBL/Amritia' from 606v2, just for full transparency in case you weren't aware. People a few years ago accused me of having a different nick on OTF as a way of hiding, which was odd as we only have a handful of posters who all know anyway, but after that I do let new posters here from v2 know just in case.
