Stefanos Tsitsipas
In summer 16 or 15, I saw a young Greek Tsitsipas at Boodles, very nice and elegant SBH.
He was not as explosive and talented like Shapo then, but he has probably leant a thing or two since.
He is 19, 6 ft 4, right-handed.
He's been playing challengers and recently I noticed his name start to appear in qualies of regular atp tournaments.
Well, he's made it to the main draw of Shanghai and will be playing Kachanov today.
Go Tsitsi!

he's just beaten Kachanov.Tenez wrote:heard of him, but never saw him play.
Saw a few points, very "young" game, nice serve.
Not very aggressive and certainly not in Shapo's league. But always great to have a young SBH-er on tour, esp in this day and age!

Re: Stefanos Tsitsipas
Wow, just saw the score, Tsitsipas beat Goffin in Belgium today, three close sets (last two sets TBs) SINGLEHANDEDLY!
And only 19.
One to watch.

Re: Stefanos Tsitsipas
First time I see him play. Thx for the link. Very lucky from Tsip as he was in trouble in all his service games and could have been a 62 63 for Goff. From what I could see Tsip is the Greek Robredo. Let's see how he progresses.

Re: Stefanos Tsitsipas
Yes, Gorfin made a lot of UEs...and other players would have dealt with Tsip differently.
But I thought, not a bad base.
He is 6ft 4, and could improve his serve etc.
I don't expect him to beat Schwartzy today.

Re: Stefanos Tsitsipas
Tsip playimg better than I thought he would vs Schwartzy.
He is no Shapo but no Robredo either.
I suppose a modern SBH-er...baseline game with the intent of moving in.
His game is a bit bare, that’s the best I can put it.
Main thing is he doesn’t play percentage tennis!
Not bad, all up.

Schwartzy yelling trying to intimidate young Tsip...
I shouldn’t’ve felt sorry for him vs Fed last week...

Re: Stefanos Tsitsipas
Was going to watch it, but imissed it, still happy to see Tsitsipas continuing to improve and win
He managed to beat Gasquet in two sets (Gasquet won his match yesterday easily)
Some nice FHs.
And good on a tall young player to stick with a SBH!

I wouldn’t compare him to Isner in a million years...
Strange how we all see others differently.

Of course his face. Still, I can’t see much resemblance.Jahu wrote:Looks as in his face, not his play.
That’s what I meant how people see different things and features.
That is quite fascinating for me.
I have never been able to look at physical world with “cold” brain like that.
Tenez once compared Simon to S. Distel and I would have never linked the two in a million years.
My dad is the most hillarious case when he declares various tv faces as spitting image of other people.
To me it’s like saying Serena Williams and Sharapiva are twin sisters.
anyway....

Same old yahoo in the new year!
I saw him live in Boodles a few years ago, he actually is handsome, takes after his dad.
