Well....well....weeeeeeeelllll!!!!!

What can I say?

Mr Djokovic has done the worst move in his career.
I as a former fervent fan of his am shocked with how fast he has gone down the pan.

I still can't believe it what has happened to him.

For someone who has had a chance to really end up as the best to throw it away with both hands like that...

He clearly is not as intelligent as I thought he was.

What a shame.

As I said a few weeks/months ago it will be painful to watch him, he should retire.

What's happened to him? He's won over $100 million in prize money and is one of the greatest players of all time. Nothing has happened to him that hasn't happened to many other all time greats, i.e. they lose some of their fire and motivation. He wants to shift his priorities as he's almost 30 and not 20 any longer. He has a family and can't be as selfish any more. It's normal!

You are off your rocker blaming the wife and whatever else. What kind of fair-weather fan are you?  Sad

LOL. Do you have the paranoia bug like NITB? He's almost 30 and has won everything. He probably doesn't want to break his back winning every god forsaken title the way he has for the past five years any longer. His style of tennis requires complete dedication. He may not be prepared to train at that level any longer. It was inevitable. Players dominate and then they don't. 30 year olds can't dominate the way they did in their prime.

I think it's a good move. What can Becker teach him after 3 years? Najda knows him better and fine tune him whereas Becker is just a big mouth.

That's wrong. It's exactly now that he can make his record better than the others. It's much easier as you are meant top have less pressure as the success is already there and adding slams will sort him from the rest.

The desire to success is still there and that's why he wants to get rid of Becker. And rightly so imo.

You are wrong IMO! He hired Becker because he was hungry to win more slams and Becker helped him a lot in that regard. He won six slams under Becker in three years! Djokovic has lost some of the hunger and doesn't want to break his back to win every event. He has other priorities/interests at this age. He's said it and Becker has confirmed it. Djokovic will probably win more big titles but his days of dominating and sweeping everything are over IMO and that's perfectly normal for somebody his age. Not every player is like Federer in that they have an endless love for the sport and have a wife who wants to sacrifice everything to make winning happen.

It's not about loving the sport....it's about being addicted to win. Those guys are all hooked on winning.

And I don't think Becker helped much to be fair. Vajda was always nearby.

i just think that the last 6 months has been very strange,to go from winning 4 straight majors to not winning a single title for the rest of the season is just bizarre

It happened with Nadal in 2014 after his amazing 2013, it happened with Federer in 2010 after he won the AO, etc. where a player looks like he is still on top of the world and then he crashes but if you looked carefully at the clues for all these players they were there that their peaks/primes were coming to an end. In 2016 Djokovic started losing matches to players he should have defeated, i.e. Vesely, Querrey, he almost lost to Simon at the AO, etc.

As for NITB IMO she is full of nothing but hot air. She doesn't know a thing. If Djokovic were just caught for PEDS, Becker wouldn't be leaving. He would stay and they would resume their winning ways in January but Becker is leaving because Becker is all about winning and Djokovic has taken a step back and winning everything isn't as important to him at the moment. Listen to Becker's interview with Sky Sports where he says Djokovic didn't want to practise as hard and had other priorities after the FO win. This is all Djokovic's decision.

Also NITB didn't say Djokovic wouldn't win anything for the rest of the year. She said he wouldn't win anything UNTIL the end of the year and we know she was wrong because Djokovic did not win the WTF at the end of the year. You can't listen to crazy Djokovic fans and their broken telephone gossip. Right now they are trying to come up with every excuse in the book in order to take responsibility away from the one person who matters, i.e. Djokovic. They are blaming his wife, this Guru, Becker, the Pope, you name it.

Very interesting turn of events. Can't say it was un-expected. Judging by Becker's comments both men are heading in different directions and see things differently. Be interesting to see who Djokovic turns to next. Certainly the partnership has been profitable for both.

Becker has presence. You may not like him but he has a champion's heart and confidence.

Nole doesn't to the same extent. In the end, he was probably too much for the still soft Nole.
Soft and disorientated.

Not a very good combination.

His only chance was to keep Boris. He isn't talented enough to survive at the top without Boris.

He needs a strong character in his team, especially now.

It says a lot what state he is in now to have sacked BB.

Becker gave an ultimatum last week to Djoko to choose between him and Pepe Imaz.

Guess Djoko choose Imaz the spiritual guru instead of a Tennis guy.

Novak Djokovic enlists guru specialising in long hugs to help him stay No1
Pepe Imaz preaches a philosophy of love and peace as central to his coaching

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/nov/01/novak-djokovic-guru-pepe-imaz-long-hugs-tennis-no-1

Djokovic says: “We are all looking for love, happiness and harmony. We need to be able to look inwards and to establish this connection with a divine light.” Monte Carlo Buddha has just been born Doh Doh Doh Doh

Djoko missing being Loved and Hugged, chooses spiritual stones and crappy philosophy, instead of Becker, great choice, wtf.

Tenez, but Djoko has Vajda for his father replacement, so Becker helped on the tennis side.

Why does he need another make-me-feel better guy? No logic. What a insecure little git.

I actually think Becker has very little presence. He might impress young girls in a cupboard but I think he is an idiot and clearly was not able to help Djoko in teh last 6 months.

Djoko will prove me right when he picks his next slam without Becker.

LOL!

I must say I don't have such strong feelings for Becker. To me he is just funny.

I am reading now a list of potential candidates, even on some betting quotes: Sampras, Cahill, Wilander (!!!)

But I think he is beyond help.

Can't wait to see AO and what happens with him there.
You must admit, this downfall since RG is fascinating!

I think Fed coudl be a good coach but once again, I don;t think past slam winners will/should end end being coaches. before Murray...no first time slam winner had a slam winner as coach!...and I still believe Murray woudl have won slams without Lendl.

I think Nole doesn't need another coach now. Vajda is enough.

But!!!

As he has lost his muscle mass and until he signs for Nike, he needs to work on his serve and esp FH.

Big FH is coming back in vogue.

RR era is on its last legs.
Next two years will show how talented he really is.

I think Fed will never be a coach, he may only get excited if he saw another wonderful talent.

I see him more in tennis management.

Actually not sure about his talents outside tennis court.

Well, that is all debatable if he got caught.

He played a great match against Nishikori less than 24 hours before that awful display in the final.

It's not as straightforward.

does make me wonder if we will one day see federer coaching someone

I think Fed coudl be a good coach but once again, I don;t think past slam winners will/should end end being coaches. before Murray...no first time slam winner had a slam winner as coach!...and I still believe Murray woudl have won slams without Lendl.
i disagree, murrays greatest success has come with lendl as his coach..its been as good a partnership as boris and djokovic
i know that you think neither of them have brought much to the table as coaches, but i think their success speaks for itself
a coach is like teacher, they can make or break you.i used to be a straight A maths student until our school employed a university lecturer who tried to teach us to think the way he would at university level
he confused me so much,i went from being an A student to getting C's or D's in maths and i solely blame him for being such a bad teacher
but i agree, being a slam winner doesnt automatically mean that youll make a great coach

I see him more in tennis management.

Actually not sure about his talents outside tennis court.

he does seem really keen to continue being a part of the tennis world..definitely on the managing side but i reckon we will see him give coaching a shot probably 10-20 years down the line
i could also see him doing some commentating for various tv channels

That's the thing!

I can't see him be part of anything lesser than the top of the tops. And that would be in some form of management. Even there, momey rules and would be above him...he is not stupid...yet, I can't imagine him not somehow be involved with tennis.

He loves nature, maybe he'll just fall in love with it even more when he retires.

He kind of has to be GOAT in everything, he's earnt ot, created a monster there, too.

i dont think that there is a "need" for him to do anything certainly not to try and prove that he is the GOAT in anything else other then tennis
i think that he choses to do these things out of choice, because he wants to give back to the sport
as tenez said,he is an exceptional person

Think about it. All slams Murray won were based on Djoko being under par. Murray had a few of slams finals without Lendl or with Lendl....but only managed to win slams when Djoko Or Fed) was under par.

A champ is a champ ......and as I said before Murray no other real champs won slams with teh help of another slams-winner-coach.

As Fed says champs come from within. To me this is what sets Stan from Murray. Stan won it beating Djoko and Nadal. Murray was more consistent and therefore created more chances but still had to rely on his opponents to get tired or simly off form.

Lendl tried to improveMurray's FH, and manage to unearth a CC shot out of him in the end.

Mauresmo I think helped him more as she worked on his game as a whole, relaxed him and integrated that puny improvement Lendl made with the FH.

His best improvement was adding all the muscles and avoiding WADA radar.

He still remains weaponless.

Probably Becker who wanted to leave. Loving it when all the winning was happening, taking full credit- scowling when things not going so well.

Becker did well to leave that sinking ship.

Water leaking everywhere. I can't believe what's happening.

It's nothing to do with not winning...that's a simplistic view.

Nole didn't just stop winning...he totally collapsed!

You can talk all you like about your declining theories...they hold no water. Why isn't Murray declining being a week older?
Quite the opposite.

A small burn out is one thing, injury perhaps, even trying to clear the body of toxins post possible testing positive.

This is worse.

He's allowed a new age guru to infiltrate his family thorugh his wife...the guy (pepe imaz) was even with them in the same room, depriving them of privacy in sharing a difficult moment (their little son was there, too) after his loss to Murray in WTF final...I don't know who is more pathetic of the two now, Djokovic or his wife.

It's tragic to look at him now, like he is someone else... the once wolf's eyes now look almost bovine...he has completely lost the plot!

Didn't you read the post?

Google pepe imaz and Djokovic and see what you can find.

Anyway...we'll see it all in a month's time at AO.

He has announced Vajda as his main coach, though there were speculations Nenad Zimonjic could step in.

In that case I would've had first hand insights as I know him personally.

From all I have seen, it doesn't look good for him.
Then again, I don't know what's his deal with ATP.

Maybe he's done his time. Winking

Not to worry. A book will tell all the stories in the years following retirement.

I don't know...it's my brain...it can't stop!

Will we really see a book?

It's one thing to be "Open" like Agassi, and another to be broken and humiliated like Nole.

He doesn't have a singing heart any more.

One day, it will all blend into the same shade of blue and won't matter much in the biggest of pictures...oh but to breathe and walk during all that meantime!

Why do you think Pepe has infiltrated Novak's family through his wife? It seems to have been Marko who introduced Novak and has teamed up with him on the academy?
