USO 2015: The Finale

Federer is coming off losing 0 sets this tournament, and a Cincinnati win against Murray and Djokovic. That's as good as it gets, really.

yes it is genrally easier to return on HC...but the wind (or lack of rather) is the main factor to take the ball early....as you can imagine.

he may be in a better physical state. Also less windy and regular bounce so more confident on his shots.

However....Djoko will play and move better too.

Frankly I can't see federer win....unless he plays 3 beautiful sets. I know he can....but unlikely.

Federer can win. If he brings his form with him. He didn't do that in the Wimbledon final - he got nervous and tired. And he blew it.

This is a faster court, and he's got a LOT of momentum. It's 50/50 at worst.

The other thing is that the balls are very slow at Wimbeldon. When teh weather is hot, they come off the racquet faster and the grass is quick enough to make it quite fast but shoudl it be cooler, sunless day and they become very slow.

Here at Flushing Meadow they seem to retain their speed longer which made the task very difficult for Murray and Djoko suffered as well v Agut.

Fed will have to unleash all his power.

Maybe that's why he practised these early returns, it really improved his timing, he is hitting his FH quite flat compared to last year.

For what it's worth: every time Fed played against Djoko in NY, he got MP's...

I'm more optimistic than I was at Wimbledon for Feds chances He has to be confident on break points aka don't chip it back!

I bet it's going to be tomorrow. fed will be fresher and Djoko will have another whole day to get nervous. We remember too well what an extra day rest did to him in FO 2011.

1.  If Nole takes the first set, he is almost guaranteed to win
2.  If Fed takes the first set, it is not much better than around 50/50
3.  I think the first set itself is around 50/50.

So based on that I would give 70/30 chance to Nole.  But even that gives Fed enough hope to make it stressful watching.
