I thought that too
If el toro was playing it would have been the olympics with the most tennis players as flag bearers

Gotta say the show really built to something,I really enjoyed it after the shambles of the first 30 mins but Paul Mccartney should never be allowed to sing, ever again!

I missed it totally. Too early in the morning for my time zone. . Had planned to see the repeat telecast in the morning time, but missed that too. I hop it was the most spectacular show as it was promising to be. I had seen last year's Beijing Opening ceremony and that was fantastic.

Re: Olympics opening ceremony
The Beijing Olympics was “dressed to kill”, more China’s political self-promotion than a
universal sports competition in the original spirit of the Olympic Games from Greece. I’d have preferred that they
focused more on drug testing the athletes than making it an occasion to show off to the foreigners: “China is Great”.
Give me the London objective any time: The Biggest Anti-doping Operation in the History of the Olympics
and with that, may the cleanest and the best win.

Beijing was amazing though, but you have to take into consideration what a rich culture China has,you really got a taste of it in their opening and closing ceremonies
I commend London for adding something very different to the opening ceremony and taking pride in being British but a lot of it was lost in translation, the beginning was quite confusing and if the commentators didn't give you an idea of what they were trying to portray, you wouldn't have understood much of it.Already Ive heard many Americans say they didn't understand much of it
I wonder what was in the 27 min they cut off and what all the money was spent on
£27 million and most of the dancers and performers all volunteered
At the end of the day you're right, its about the sport and it could be the worst ceremony ever,it wouldn't matter.
What makes the Olympics special is that there is very little chance for a drug cheat to get away with cheating

Re: Olympics opening ceremony
I didn't see the ceremony, so can't comment.
Not just the drug tests, but absolute safety for all involved. I remember in the Beijing Games, a female performer from one of their spectacular shows fell and became paralyzed for life. When she was interviewed about the accident, not a word of blame re the infrastructure being inadequate but said instead she'd do anything in the name of country. Can you imagine if that happened in the UK or US? The victim would've sued.
Not to take anything away from el toro, did he win clean in Beijing? Pubus from BR thought he only started juicing "recently". Not sure how that fit in with his alleged doping history.

No in 08 he was clearly on the juice,he had cycled up during the clay season and looked like he had a top up before Wimbledon final
I think he could have passed the testing back in 08,his win was a combination of drugs and the confidence he gained from being the best player that summer, wining Wimbledon and becoming no1
I have a feeling the tests they are doing at this Olympics could trace the drugs he uses thats why he withdrew, cause he would failed

Re: Olympics opening ceremony
Nadal wasn't #1 after winning wimbledon 2008. I fact he was #1 after winning the olympics gold. Its from memory, but I'm almost certain about it.

I think became no1 the week of Cincinnati, which was the week before Beijing,I remember the media making big thing about Roger losing the no1 ranking around that time
One thing is certain that he went into the U.S Open as the world no 1 which was 2-3 weeks later
I remember Murray winning Cincinnati,Fed lost to Simone (?)
Whatever it is,my point was Nadal winning Wimbledon and RG back to back gave him the confidence to go on and win gold in Beijing. At that stage of his career he hadn't really won a major tournament on the hard court

Fed said: "It is a big blow to the tournament but he must have his
reasons. I don't know if it was his knee or his preparation wasn't good enough…”
I thought this is a bold statement from Fed. Good for him. He dares to suggest el toro isn’t up to the Olympic task.

Re: Olympics opening ceremony
That's not right. You need a definitive article there- as Nadal is a noun (Proper noun) e.g. Nadal is the death of tennis.noleisthebest wrote:Reincarnation wrote:Last 3 matches head2head between Nole and Nadal :shock:noleisthebest wrote:raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Yes I saw the tennis that summer, Nadal looked almost impenetrable that time. And btw Gav no longer covers the tennis section now at V2
It is run by Julius, Laverfan, and Adam D (sometimes).

Hey Noley
I thought she said she's a Djoko fan?
Now consider this: Amritia = It Must Be Love = Reincarnation :!: :!:
So Miss Multiple Ids in question is also a double agent.

:lol!: Wrong again!
Amritia and IMBL are both Nadullovers (not sure whether they are the same person?) but not me!
Getting closer though, getting closer.
I'm a Djokovic fan who also likes nadal, that should be another clue.

Noley, I gave you the hint but you didn't take it.
Update: My suspicion was correct Amritia=Reincarnation.

Amritia, you lied with a straight face again. I had guessed correctly that Amritia = Reincarnation and you still wouldn't admit that I was mostly right. I inserted IMBL only bc WOW3 said that's Amritia's new id. Given that I've caught you lying numerous times, I'd take WOW3's words over yours, any time.
Here again you tried to trick people claiming you're a Djoko fan, but every one from v2 knows for a fact you're a rabid nadal fan. What's wrong with you? Posting as Reincarnation above, you even declared that you, Amritia is NOT a nadal fan.
Anyway, I've told VJ in private that Reincarnation=Amritia. Glad that you (and wow) have now proven me right. But sorry that you've lost credibility based on your cheating episodes, as far as I'm concerned.
