Cool. I'll be watching some hopefully.
Looks like Larry is trying to tell us something but I am afraid I am too busy to respond now.
Good night.

And that's probably because he uses the wrist a lot...as I always said. He doesn;t hit nearly as flat as people think. Not many do I grant you that but Djoko play with a lot of spin doesn;t mean he goes high over the net.

Of course he does. they all do these days. But he hits it flat when in attacking mode, too. I wish and hope he odes it more.
I don't know much about the new racquet and I haven't noticed much difference at all, although his shots appear to be heavier, though and the serve faster, too.

Re: ATP 1000: Miami
Djokovic only hits with spin when's on the defence on his forehand.
Normally he hits the ball extremely flat.
This is the thing about Djokovic- he seems to be the only player who can dominate in this transition state: where he is neither taking huge risks on the attack, nor on the defence.
He can do this as he has laser like precision and accuracy, what he loses in his shots for pure pace he makes up with the immense angles.

Re: ATP 1000: Miami
Yes Larry. Shame you made it such a slow tournament to help your friend Nadal. You also put pressure on referees to prevent them from fining Nadal for his on-court coaching.
The good news is that though Miami might not have as much coverage, it is still worth 1000 and Nadal is guaranteed to be seeded lower than 4 before the FO.

I must have missed it when I was collecting sand on the beaches of California.
Looks pretty flat to me: http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Championship+Wimbledon+2009+Day+Three+STTi2QpHRJUl.jpg

Being number 4 or number 5 doesn't make a huge difference to Nadal.Tenez wrote:Yes Larry. Shame you made it such a slow tournament to help your friend Nadal. You also put pressure on referees to prevent them from fining Nadal for his on-court coaching.

They key thing is avoiding Djokovic before the final in the draw.

Wow! Blake trounces Bennetteau 6:2. 6:3, Fognini beats Llodra even more convincingly.
Really annoying they are not showing Davydenko Dolgpolov, can't remember last time I saw Dolgo!
Who wants to watch that massive mule Del Potro lumber around playing Kamke

That was what you call one sound demolition!
Djokovic - Rosol 6:1 6:0
Excellent show from Nole, we did see some thundering returns and forehands from Rosol, reminding us of his finest ever performance and one of the greatest matches in tennis history
What a difference in crowd, too, Miamians so much nicer and happier than Larrians.
Good to see Novak's parents in the stands after a long time, esp after what they went through last year.

Gasquet d. Rochus
Goffin d. Kohlschreiber
Querrey d. Kubot
Troicki serving for the set vs Tsonga. Collossal choke from Troicki. 5 all.
JJ up a brak vs Bellucci
Seppi slogging in the third vs Bedene

Re: ATP 1000: Miami
Tomic striking ball well, he has a superior forehand, serve even backhand to Murray, his movement and fitness let him down BIG time.
Totally puffed out after a 20 plus shot rally, quickly loses the next two points.
Fitness definitely seems to be a massive advantage and Murray using is to full potential.
Come on A-tomic!!!!!!!!!

Tomic in the state of complete strop. Two terrible returning games. Utterly despondent.Throwing the match away with both hands. Imagine if poor little Ferrer had his talent...
He won't get far with that attitude, needs to toughen up and fast!

wilson_nxt wrote:He doesn't have a superior 1st serve or BH to Murray in my opinion. His FH is good and has that unusual FH sliced motion to fade the ball into the corners. He takes the ball early and moves well for 6'5. To be a top 10 player you have to be a lot fitter than Tomic is. The top10, top 5 partic. are simply good at everything, you dont get to the top of tennis being poor at anything. Tomic needs to sharpen mind and body if he wants to scale the heights but he's still young.
True, but his time is running out fast. He needs a really good, tough coach, and dad out of the picture completely. He has great potential, a bit like Gulbis but in a different way.

wilson_nxt wrote:He's a maverick like Gulbis which speaks to having a potential for mentally frailty in big moments because he doesn't conform, ie think linearly. Only the truly talented like Agassi could get away with being like that in youth and be top player. Tomic isnt Agassi. All the very best players conform to what's needed to be a slam winner. Agree time is short to make the jump but he'll never be a consistent top 3-4 player, he has potential to win a slam with good coach but don't see him as an event to event dominator.
I think he will easily be a regular top 3 or 4. I don't see him as Gulbis as he seems much more tenacious. He is just a bit young still but in a year or so he will be up there....bar injuries.

At first I did not see much talent in him...but he clearly can whip the ball and inject some pace in his shot and he is not bad mouver for a tall guy.....however I think we all agree, his mind needs settling.

Re: ATP 1000: Miami
..and he could definitely work on that return, too.
Actually his movement isn't that bad, although it could be better, it's more his fitness.
He can really get going and play well when he wants to and so far it has only happened in AO in front of his home crowd for some reason. Shame he can't translate that state of mind outside OZ.
Obviously lacks confidence.
Again, getting rid of dad as a coach could work miracles, even Bartoli managed to cut the umbilical cord recently....
