Easy draw for Djoko. Kokki gets another WC. Must be very lucky. I think it helps to be from a slam hosting country.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Miami
Yes, for a change...
Nadal as usual gets a SBH-er in R1.
I didn't realise Kokki is even younger than Coric.
He is an interesting player.
The two times I saw him he played so differently.
Last year his FH looked better, this year it's quite loopy but keeps him in the point.
Playing Berlocq today.
I saw Miami preview on tennistv and was reminded of last year's match point...I forgot Nole played Nadal.
So, Nadal has a lot of points to defend here and if he fails he could lose his top 4 ranking for clay.

Coric is younger than Kokki. The Aussie is about to turn 19.

Zverev is the youngest....17y 11months....but unlike Kokki he has to qualify for everything.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Miami
Yes, good point about Kokkinakos being from the slam holding country. Aussies have such long tradition and probably many right people in the right ATP places.
I saw Zverev pracise with Nole in aboodles in 2013, wow, he was 15 then!!!!
He was already taller than Nole and very lanky, I thought what's the big deal about him, his shots looked pretty boring.
And when I watched him last year, he has the same quality as Coric : to keep the ball in play, but not as good a mover and an average serve for his height, ni weapons, good competitor, though.
But he is still quite young...

This is unbelievable...BOTH Berlocq and Kokkinakis are receiving an MTO at the same time.
Berlocq having his calf, cough, cough - leg massaged and Kokkinakis his hip....
5:2 for Berlocq in the 3rd set....

Yes I saw some of that. It was really stupid. But it did work as Kokki lost his serve to love right after that. But Kokki was 4/0 down and had a few points to come back at 4 all!
He has to learn!

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Miami
Just saw some 18 year old Korean, Chung, knock out Granollers in 3 sets. He looked like a slower version of Coric (probably the lack of thise extra muscles). Hands up who's heard of him before?
Granolers' game that kept him in top 30 for a long time looked so obsolete.
Another proof tennis is moving on.

I believe that is the guy who beat Coric in Wimbledon Junior when they were both 15 or 16.noleisthebest wrote:Just saw some 18 year old Korean, Chung, knock out Granollers in 3 sets. It must be really hot in Miami, I've never seen a player put an ice towel under his shoes!
Stakh trying to level the match.
In his usual, elegant style, of course.
Serve keeping Almagro in.

Miami is normally 5 hours "away", but you have not yet switched to the Daylight Savings Time (aka Summer Time) while we did already. Next week, it will be back to 5 hour difference.noleisthebest wrote:I just realised Miami is only 4 hours "away"!

My foggy brain read Coric as Cilic and I was just going to tell you how Cilic is 27....Tenez wrote:I believe that is the guy who beat Coric in Wimbledon Junior when they were both 15 or 16.noleisthebest wrote:Just saw some 18 year old Korean, Chung, knock out Granollers in 3 sets. But, yes, that is the one!!!
My "hands up who knows this guy" question was totally rhetorical.
Now that it is him, he suddenly looks so much more meaningful!
So...just as I asked where are all the 18 year olds the other week, Miami gave out  WCs to several of them - Chung, Kokkinakis and I think another Auusie...Coric played qualifications...it's almost weird to see so many of them kind of out of nowhere!
Yes, this Chung was quite decent, looked better than Granolers in every department, nothing special, though.

Yes, that makes sense, I remember now it was the same last year - I was happy how I didn't have to stay up too late and then after the weekend, when all the big matches started the clock was moved back.
This is the last of it till August, though!

I was surprised to see you there, did not think you had interest in that. It is a bit odd to post under a different id. If you are interested in posting there why not get reinstated with your usual id? I imagine they would be ok with that and you do not strike me as someone who holds grudges either.

I'm trying to decipher what this sentence means, you've mixed up the tense of your verb, and I think you may have also missed out a negative (which would dramatically change the meaning of the sentence).Tenez wrote:If I wanted to rejoined I would have used my name as I would have been found out very quickly. I noticed your arguments were the same, but I saw your first month of posting was just in snooker, and you kept insisting that you didn't know much about tennis.
When SB pointed it out, I looked a bit closer and noticed you kept calling Raonic 'Rao'.

Coric seemed slightly injured today. He was not running as fast and as much but regardless i was not that impressed as I was just a couple of weeks ago. I don;t think he has the weapons needed for future success. He simply arrives too late on the tour. He will get to play better than Djoko and Nadal...but that won;t be enough in a couple of years time.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Miami
I agree.
I only saw one or two points...he was just pushing the ball, keeping it in play, looked slow and very tired.
The next generation of winners will have to have weapons.
If his body holds, Nishi, not Coric will replace Nole.

Vesely - Delbonis into 1st set TB.
Vesely's got to win this type of matches.
