Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Just watched the first set of Fed/Nadal and it's comical how stiff Fed was. More comical to here Nadal say he played "fantastic". Fed looks like he has an umbrella stuck up his..... Yet he coudl have been a tighter set had he won his game from 40/15 up. Though I suspect he was feeling really bad there as he rushed to teh net to shorten the points.
Yes some mentioned here, there is nothing to draw from Nadal's form on this match. Let's see whether he can beat Berdych. It shoudl be a tight match.

Nadal really hits a bit flatter than before. It is pity that that ball when Berd coming to the net was not better, 15:40 would be a good chance. Berd wants it too much, which is contraproductive.

The only thing Berd needs to do is pretend that Nadal is Federer....he seems scared of Nadal.

Berd plays 80% with his 2nd serve and still hangs. He needs to bash it when he has a chance, running is not his area.

Nadal hits harder than Berdych actually but that is essentially cause he has all the time in teh world to time it from 5m behind teh baseline.
Sorry but Berdych's mental is as tiny as his legs are huge.

Why are we watching this? Berdych is terrible. He doesn;t want to win. He's been paid by Larry to let Rafa go.

I woudl like Djoko to win on this occasion for the obvious reason. Djoko would be the benchmark to measure how far Nadal is from the top.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Heavily injured Moribundus standing 5meters behind BL probably due to his patella takes it. Berd played a good match, but his worse variaty on serve and serve consistency cost him at least one set. It is obvious that Moribundus must have a big problem with knees

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Let's not forget that this court is "very slow clay" as Federer mentioned.
Amazing how popular is Nadal still. People simply love him. His tennis is more watchable now than then except for those ridiculous high moonballs and he still serves tons of them, especially on the return.
Berdych is unfortunately not a very skilled played. No middle court game, very robotic, anticipates badly, I think it is fair to say his mind is weak. He has a good FH but Nadal's was actually better today. He can create the same pace as Berdych but with enough spin to it much more secure than Berdych and that is thanks to his huge LH.
Yet Berdych had his chance but very difficult to time Nadal's balls on those courts with this heat...so he has an excuse there for sure. But still with a bit of composure he shoudl have won that 2nd set convincingly.

To be honest T, regardless what happens tomorrow, i've seen enough. For me he's favorite to win RG and a couple of other clay tournaments. He's now playing a game he used to be not very confortable with (hence the UE's) but still he wins. So you can imagine what happens when he's on a roll on clay. This puts all the bullsh!t team Nadal has put on us for all those months in perspective. I reckon he has been training for at least 5 months, on his fitness and fine tuning this more aggressive game. And of course spending time on his knee-friendly jet ski. Lance is a sincere man compared with Nadal

I woudl say essentially what I said above. Fed is very strong mentally and starts very well v Rafa until he tires. Berdych starts badly and chokes before he gets tired (especially today as there wasn't many long rallies). He started to play his game in that very last game when he had nothing to lose...except when he had everything to lose (in those BPs) as he coudl not return a serve in. He is not a skilled players....he has a big FH like ALL tall guys but besides that? Not sure.
I think Fed won something like 10 matches in a row until his got back problem (2008) and a few of those wins Berdych got were again from MPs down....when he had nothing to lose.
I know you like him and you are a fan. I am not trying to criticise him for free. I believe I am just saying what we coudl all observe.

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
It is still the same, there is no player on the tour who can outplay Moribundus from BL except Nole. Moribundus moves better than before, understood that he can not play only passively to compete with Nole. He has improved his serve and calmed his head. At the moment (except really fast surface, not sure about grass) Moribundus is only in hands of Nole.Tenez wrote:Let's not forget that this court is "very slow clay" as Federer mentioned.
