Federer is playing very badly....luckily Cilic is even worse. Fed is simply playing without spending energy...or simply without energy.

Frankly I cannot see fed win this tournament. He seems so tired himself.

Ok now it is clear...2 very wild serves...like v Berdych....back is gone.

So Cilic decided today to play well? prick, give up and go home.

A very usual pattern for fed.....as the body warms up, he gets better. But he will be very tired on Saturday and worse on Sunday....if he gets there.

Dimi-Fed final, would like that.

Glad Sock won. From the hilights I saw he deserved it. Sock has a very weak BH though. He will be exposed by Dimi..unless Dimi gets too excited by the occasion.

Federer, Sock, Dimi and one of Thiem/Goffin in the SF?  How is Fed not going to win from here?  He himself has been quite poor so far, but still, none of those four possible opponents is a big threat.

He made a meal of worse ones this week. And what's worrying is that his game gets worse as he advances.. I m hoping he can find the energy to play his last 2 matches.

Last night was obviously a good result for Federer. Zvereve is very awkward.If Goffin beat Thiem Federer really would be happy.

Any player could win this though Federer is obviously strong favourite.

Haven't seen Federer play against Cilic but i think he'll be ok and win the next two. We've seen him before playing a bad rubber(s) at the wtf just before masterclasses in the semi's and finals. 

Have to say though, that was a very long time ago.

Agree with all of that except of the remaining 5 I really can't see Goffin winning.  Thiem is the only one to have beaten Fed, but both Sock and Dimitrov have shown an impressive sense of purpose at this tournament. Form and the H2H's below point to Fed, but I agree there's room for an upset:

6:0 vs Dimitrov
6:0 vs Goffin
3:0 vs Sock
1:2 vs Thiem

Federer looking like the WTF is on it's way. Dimi probably only the one obstacle left in the tournament.

Woosh - Goffin wins 6-4 6-1 (which, to be fair, is not so inconsistent with their previous H2H of 6:3 in his favour), so Fed's combined H2H vs. the remaining SF field at the WTF is 15:0.  Never any room for complacency, especially since all of them would seem to have a sharp glint in the eye, but if Fed doesn't win this one he'll not be feeling too clevah.

Blimey, I didn't see that coming. Thiem is very disappointing.

Either that or Dimitrov went full God mode and is now the Man.

Dimitrov?  It was Goffin who just mullahed Thiem.

If Dimitrov is going to win, he's got to do it the hard way: (i) he faces Carreno Busta tonight at 8pm; and, (ii) Sock tomorrow at 8pm. Sock has a day's rest today and enjoys a 3:1 H2H lead over Dimitrov but all their matches have been tight.  

The other SF, Fed v. Goffin, is at 2pm tomorrow - so if Fed gets through he will have had the maximum rest time all the way through... perhaps the old man will need it?

He is referring to when Dimi lobotomized Goffin, with the loss of just 2 games.

I think they are match up issues.
Thiem struggles with Goff, Goff with Dimi. Thiem-Dimi are v evenly matched.

I am not surprised. Goffin played particularly poorly in his match v Dimi and made Dimi looked better than he really is. I am not sure why Goffin played so poorly but he came up with no weapon and gave Grigor easy balls to put away.

I expect a closer match this evening and tomorrow v Sock.

Busta is reminding us why we did not want him there in the first place!

Once again, Dimi is made to look better than he is.

Coming from number 17 at the beginning of the year...just one behind Federer.

Number 16 and 17 finished # 2 and 3.

Credit to Goffin, he is playing v well but Feds just isn't.

Goffin playing better than Fed now but he is normally a bit of a choker, so let's see if he closes it out.

Embarrassing loss by Fed, totally wasted.

Federer's game was not that great in the first set either, but has totally deteriorated since then.

Can Goffin hold it together for one more game?  But Federer needs to put him under at least some pressure.

Not been crushed like this 2 sets in a row since god knows. what a disappointment, first set super fast, then goes asleep.
