If anyone is missing Nadull then I will suggest the match between Kerber and Errani. Beautiful display of moonballing. These ladies are putting even Nadull to shame nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 151447854

I just want Errani to play against Serena. I don't when she is expected to meet her. She will most likely win this match. It will be a treat to see Errani moonballing Serena and making her run.

She doesn't stand a chance against Serena who demolished her opponent 6-0 6-0 today
When was the last time anyone has done that in the woman's game in a grand slam

You never know Veejay. I don't remember as when was this last bagelled score but it is not that uncommon in WTA. Commentators were taking a dig at Serena's nicey nicey attitude. Serena starts the presser and says that Andrea played well today. What??? botal lollocks!

I mean Nadal or ex-Nadal fans, in general. They seem to have been included in your post. I am not being paranoid. You thought it relevant to quote it in the context of Nadal being out for some more time and Jacqui's comment (that you seem agree with) This is time to like another player for me. He takes his fans for fools. I have seen the light!

I am not sure why Jacqui feels that there is a 'lie' somewhere. Perhaps Tennis is much more strenuous for Nadal, compared to a back 9 of Golf or Jet-skiing, no?

To be honest I never used to dislike Nadal too but started to really dislike him after 2008 Wimby final where his delaying antics really started to become evident. I havn't liked him since.

Interesting a Fed fan who was sympathetic to Nadal, becomes unsympathetic after the Wimbledon 2008 final.

Amrit, you make me laugh. nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 364988687 Yes, I wanted Fed to win. Fed has lost to Djoker as well time and again but I don't dislike Djoko. Of all the people why Nadull.

If you think Nadal beating Fed is the only factor then I can assure you it is not. The way Nadal changed the game and played negative tennis is the main reason. If Nadal plays attacking tennis and plays by the rule then I might support him as well.

Do you like or not like Fed?

@sphairistike - it is perfectly fine to dislike a specific player, be it Nadal or Federer or Djokovic or Murray. All Nadal-related articles on OTF turn out to be an attack-v-defend Nadal. There is really no practical discussion otherwise. Mikey and Jacqui have chosen to no longer be fans of Nadal. There many who post here, who do not like Nadal for his tactics, his suspicious injuries, his on-court vs off-court persona.

I happen to like both Federer and Nadal[/i] as well as the others in the Top 1000, not just the Top 4.

Fandom is very much like taste for gourmet food. I will not give examples of varying cultural food habits, lest some shock the posters.

Regarding Nadal's injuries, he has been an injury-prone through out his career, even before his career took it's current form. 2004 FO, for example, was missed due to stress fracture.

His playing style is also subjected to derision as a lungs and legs style. There are many who currently model their game on his, to be able to compete with him, with examples in the current Top 4. It should tell you how influential his style of play is despite vehment denial.

Federer's humanity was on display even before Nadal showed up in 2004/2005. Winning his first W at 2003 was very a clear statement of what he was capable of.

Let me give you another example, Mozart is not the only musical genius, Van Gogh is not the only painter worth his salt. Not appreciating Beethoven or Degas or Monet, does not put you in jail these days. There is always a Vermeer or Vivaldi or Holst or Toulouse-Lautrec for some.

Some can even appreciate Raja Ravi Varma's paintings or MF Hussain's. I can listen to Floyd, Peter Gabriel and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and enjoy it equally. I can listen to Grapelli or Ravi Shankar or Barenboim and enjoy music. Handel's Messiah always make me cry, as does watching Hotel Rawanda.

I can go on and on, but just open your eyes and let the world come pouring in. Winking

LF,
I don't think people who have a dislike for Nadal are the ones with the problem.
It's those who take that dislike personally and then militantly pursue the "defence" by bludgeoning everyone with their "tolerance"

From THASP:

Rafael Nadal has released another statement on the state of his knee today, disclosing a new injury. The full statement:
Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal will not play in the next 2 months and will stop to rest and recover his knee. Among other things he won´t be able to be at the disposal of the Spanish Davis Cup captain for the semifinals tie against the USA.

Rafa has partial tear of the patella tendon at the distal pole of the patella plus an inflammation of the Hoffa’s fat pad of his left knee.

Since the diagnosis of that tear, Rafa has been receiving medical treatment consisting on specific medication, physical therapy and a progressive program of rehabilitation and muscular potentiation.

For Rafa Nadal “I have missed the Olympics and the US Open in the last few weeks, tow of the most important tournaments of the year and that I really wanted to play. I really want to be back competing and enjoying the tennis tour, but I have many years in front of me and my knee needs some rest. I will be back when I have no pain and able to compete with guarantee.

I feel better after the meeting with my doctors and happy knowing that the evolution of the past weeks has been positive and surgery has been avoided. I will continue to work with the plan my doctors have established to be able to compete as soon as possible in the right conditions.

I would also like to thanks all for the support I ma [sic] receiving these days.”

Doctor Angel Ruiz-Cotorro will hold a Press Conference at the Real Club de Tennis de Barcelona on Tuesday September 4th explaining all details.

1. What is the "specific medication"? Does it require a therapeutic use exemption?
2. Why did it take to long to announce and diagnose a patella tear?
3. On August 17, 2012 Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro said that Nadal's injuries were "annoying and painful, but not significant." Is this still the case?

[quote="noleisthebest"]Let's not beat about the bush here...

Yes, it's futile and so unproductive beating around the bush.

More nadal fans are questioning his extended absences, esp. another one named Michael Walker here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1320878-rafael-nadal-tennis-star-expected-to-miss-two-months-with-torn-tendon

I just can't believe it. Good old Michael used to fight like hell with Veejay & me at Bleachers. Oh, he was SO mad we linked rafa to doping and called us unprintable names and got banned so many times. nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 2033450363 nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 2033450363

Now Michael, still a nadal fan, bless him, says this in the link above:

"It does sound funny, and I am a rafa fan, but I was also a Justine Fan
also... It sounds like something happened with the Atp, at Wimbledon,
and we have a cover up.... What I don't know.." WOW!

Also from THASP:

An Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) is a report from a WADA-accredited laboratory or other WADA-approved testing entity that identifies in a doping control sample the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers or evidence of the use of a prohibited method. A player recording an AAF receives a Mandatory Provisional Suspension. The MPS is not announced.

"13.3 The ITF shall use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that Persons under its
control do not publicly identify Participants whose Samples have resulted in
Adverse Analytical Findings or Atypical Findings, or who have a Provisional
Suspension imposed on them, or are alleged to have committed an Anti-
Doping Rule Violation under this Programme, unless and until an
Independent Tribunal has determined that an Anti-Doping Rule Violation has
been committed, and/or the Anti-Doping Rule Violationhas been admitted. "

[From: ITF Tennis Anti Doping Programme 2012.]

An adverse analytical finding, however, does not necessarily lead to an anti-doping rule violation. The time frame between an AAF and a subsequent exoneration is unknown because no cases are on the public record. This period could function as an effective "silent ban". Whether the silent ban exists or not is a matter for speculation. If the ITF TADP were less secretive, there would be no reason for such speculation.

I cant get over that, its hilarious!!

Good references, VJ. nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 364988687 nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 364988687
Call me simple-minded or anything you like. But at this point I'm tired of all the inconsistencies. I don't believe ONE SINGLE WORD, out of the nadal camp. I won't waste a single minute of my time trying to figure out what nadal is saying with all those fancy medical terms of his alleged injuries. Even some of his own fans are saying things are not adding up. C'mon, we're not children, what else could his problem be but a silent ban? nadal - Nadal out for another 2 months - Page 2 2211252749

Earlier your "generalization" reply to my OP were directed at me. Now you're citing Jacqui. Is your problem with me or Jacqui? You have not made yourself clear re the original question i asked you. Let's do this again step by step and first thing first. I'll make it very straightforward for you re my original question. Just reply yes or no for now, please. The other side issues can wait.

Are you accusing me of having made generalizations in my original post? Yes or no?

By quoting soon to be ex-Nadal fans, you want to show increasing apathy towards a player, and the more you collect such information, the more you generalise. Winking.

I am surprised that, despite such claims of inconsistencies and subsequent tiredness, your eyes and ears are glued to the Nadal PR machine, waiting for the downfall and eventual Tennis demise of Nadal. You must have enormous resources at your disposal to continue such a pursuit. Laugh

I did not realise that you expect Nadal to be on crutches and bed-ridden or hospitalised to justify his current medical condition, despite a very public history of such incidents. His presence at a Golf tournament is fuel to the fire.

The time frame between an AAF and a subsequent exoneration is unknown because no cases are on the public record. This period could function as an effective "silent ban". Whether the silent ban exists or not is a matter for speculation. If the ITF TADP were less secretive, there would be no reason for such speculation.

I can assure LF, there's nothing irrational in my dislike for Nadal, it's all cold, unpleasant facts. I'd call those who like him irrational because they are able to ignore the obvious. The rationally obvious.
I don't judge them in the least. Just want to be left alone in my dislike.

Everyone bar Paul and HM Murdoch here dislikes Nole more or less. Unlike Nadal fans, I GENUINELY respect their opinions and dislike and they don't bother me in the least.

All these "anti-Nadal threads" are existing only because Nadal fans can't live with others not liking him mainly due to motherly protective instict his fans have for him. And we know how irrational that instict is, don't we?

I see very similar instincts regarding Federer here as well as for Djokovic. I recall Djokovic match retirement discussions from the past where there was a desire to protect him, by offering medical reasons and justifications. It is good though that such discussions are no longer in the forefront.

It does, does it not? Should I use the same logic to justify Wooffie's maternal instincts? Or Amritia's?

Don't put words I haven't said into my mouth and don't drag Novak /Federer into this, because it's a lame effort to gloss over Nadal.

No, it is not a generalization if you'd only respect the definition of the word. I clearly said "I just wonder". I didn't make any statement. I simply asked a question. If you equate asking a question with making a generalization, i.e. query=generalization, then I give up.
