Positive attitude - "...but I have many years in front of me and my knee needs some rest," he said.

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
That doesnt really relate to his career Laverfan,Sampras also has many years in front of him
But if he is implying that he means he still has some years left in his career,it just proves that he knows that this injury isnt career threatening, but yet we have been lead to believe it is for years now
It also makes you question why he is still out, when no one really knows whats wrong with him and why he is out

What's going on with Monfils?
He pulled out right before the Olympics and nothing much has been heard about his knee injury.
Anyone knows anything?

Nadal has said his treatment is working, so surgery will not be needed, but slowly.
I think he will be back early next year, and apart from the Grand Slams and a few Masters 1000 only playing on clay.

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
Here’s
something rather shocking for me. Tell me what you think.
Jacqui Ellis
WAS one of the most smitten and staunchest nadal fans at BR. She used to post some of the most
saccharine sweet comments about Nadal. Upon hearing the latest news of nadal
taking more time off yesterday, Jacqui hit the roof and posted the following:
“Rafa is busy playing golf.
Injured my foot! I am sick of this liar! Why didn't he play golf instead of
tennis in the first place? Rafa hates tennis so much that he always takes time
off from it to play golf like 2009. I think I have to stop calling myself a fan
of this creep! Then signing up for exo in MSG. All he cares about is golf and
money! I am sick of his lies and manipulation! This is time to like another
player for me. He takes his fans for fools. I have seen the light! Rafa
is the most dishonest tennis player in History. I am starting to see what
people say about him.”
And I thought I was bad when I said the king of clay was the biggest fraud in tennis history just recently. Now
one of his previous fans has openly declared her disgust and repeating what I said. Who can blame her? She
feels totally betrayed. I just wonder how many other ex-Nadal fans like Jacqui are
“starting to see what people say about him.” My sympathy.

Fans should be allowed to change their viewpoints. Generalizations to the entire fan-space is difficult to make, No?

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
Let's rephrase that one LF: fans of Nadal should be allowed to finally see the truth and stop being a fan of his as no-one who likes tennis should be a fan of his, simples. The guy has only been good for tennis for only one purpose, show Federer is human and make him lose a few important matches instead of having the Maestro close to the 30 slams by now! Apart from that his brand of tennis is bad for the game and so is his total disrespect for the rules, as those two are the only things that can be proven. If/when he is proved to have cheated in using illegal substances as well, then I guess he'd lose all his fan base... And hopefully some of his titles? Oh well, one can hope...

I'm allowed to support who I like. Personally I find Federer a bit smug, and I don't really connect with him.

Clarification. The above quote in bold is NOT written by SR. It is written by Jacqui Ellis, an ex-Nadal fan.
Does anyone know if rafa is suffering the current tendon injury bad enough to require him to take more time off, how come it's not bad enough to prevent him from competing in a golf tournament?

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
Because I don't care much about Federer's character as I would not hang out with top athletes generally speaking unless we happen to be hanging out in the same place having dinner and drinks like with Tsonga and Monfils and Clement once in NYC... (Happy memories, these guys are fun!) As a fan, I only care about the player in terms of tennis and on-court behavior, not off-court, so I would never like Nadal just because he appears modest off-court (I think it is hypocretical but of course I cannot be 100% sure). Federer's tennis is sublime and the guy does not cheat on-court and also seems to do the right thing off-court with charities and stuff but that comes with the territory methinks so one more reason why I don't care much about what they do off-court as it could all be publicity for all I care..

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
Let's analyse this comment shall we:
You are a Federer fan, and I respect that. We all have our opinions on tennis, we are all allowed to have our own opinions.
Did you see some comments by Laverfan last week? About Federer and doping. You should check them. He also gives some links to a section of 'THASP' on Federer. Heard of EPO? Know the side effects? Heard of mononucleosis?
I don't think Federer is doping, but LF presented an interesting case.
Truth? Who exactly decides what is the truth? In some cultures it is God.sphairistike wrote:Let's rephrase that one LF: fans of Nadal should be allowed to finally see the truth

Exactly my thought...but also we probably can read a lot of an off-court personality with what we see on court....so in that respect I feel that, had we got the chance to share time with those athletes, I know would get along with some better than others..

No Amri, she's not a fake and please don't call people "strange" for having the courage to speak their mind. I know for a fact Jacqui Ellis used to be a Rafa fan because we used to bump into each another at BR. Ellis posted the most embarrassingly love-struck type of comments in support of rafa. Of course, you can also check her out in her profile page the way you stalked me in Bleachers.

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
You're funny Amrit, I don't think I have a superiority concept as a Federer fan or in general but I can see why you don't like what I am saying but of course I am only expressing my view, I didn't present stuff as facts just my view. Plus the I hope is just about it being revealed and him losing some of the titles he won because of that, not hoping he's doping. If anything I'd be hoping he's not doping as it would be bad for tennis. And I showed I put the sport above all players I think, several times and the fact that I can recognize what good Nadal has done for tennis shows I'm not a biased fan. Unfortunately though about the doping part, his behavior seems to suggest the problem is not physical even though he says so, playing golf? Is it for real? I don't play it because of my knee that I hurt playing high level sports so again, looks much more like a ban than anything like the body is not ready... As Vejay said a long time ago on v2 Federer and Djoko could be doping too and share his viewpoint in the sense that we have to be open to this possibility, because doping happens at high level in all sports. And maybe Fed did it back then as he felt it was the only possibility to get physically where he needed to be to last with Nadal who was also doping, who knows? What's funny is we tennis first and Fed second fans as he is a player with out of this world skills have a superiority complex but can remain open about stuff and can talk tennis from unbiased point of view, but Nadal fans refuse to open their eyes or at least be suspicious about their idol like they're part of a sect or something, except when they seem to be the passionate type who go directly from adoring the guy to hating him...

Yes, anyone could be doping. It can't actually be proved that anyone is not doping.sphairistike wrote:

Reading THASP recently, and following up from LF's posts, some appear convinced that Fed is nailed on for EPO in 2007. I am not so convinced.

Veejay, I am not defending either Nadal or Amrit. You know that I am a die hard Fed fan but there is nothing wrong with having a diverse opinion. No? For sure
I dislike Nadal as much as anyone else on this forum however I am not going to force it on Amrit or for that matter anyone else. Amrit shold be allowed to worship Nadull, it's his choice.

It is really enduring how you defend him so passionately, personally I think you deserve better, but thats just my opinion
My comment was directed at Amritia

Re: Nadal out for another 2 months
Yes we can easily envisage the possibility that all top 5 players are doping as well as none are doping but the latter is clearly the least possble scenario.
Santoro said when he retired he played versus many players who were doped but said that it was still possible to win slams without doping (at his time) and that referred very clearly to Federer. I actually remember he went as far as saying that Fed was not suspicious.
But above all I think the real suspects are those who base their game on their physical superiority. In other words those who deliberately extend rallies. Throwing a 20shot rally on important points, like a TB, has nothing "innocent"! It's a clear tactic to use to test the opponent lungs and damage his shotmaking ability. We woudl understand players doing that if they were naturally fitter than their opponent however nowadays, it's difficult to believe any of that superiority as they have reached such higher fitness levels that they make the likes of Borg and Lendl look like athmatic players in comparison.
I hope everybody understands that, including teh fans of such players.
