Marin Cilic, Anyone?
Who would've thought he'd come out of nowhere and win USO 2014...
His compatriot & coach Goran Ivanisevic seems to have fixed Cilic's serve and knowing his famous "1,2!" technical school of thought, he will have probably turned Marin's serve into a simple and nerves proof weapon.
Will the serve be enough in the week-in week-out scenario, though?
Cilic seems to be a decent athlete and a good mover compared to Raonic, for example.
He has also bulked up consoderably even before Goran's arrival as his coach, so should be ready for this physical era.
After all, he does not look any worse than Berdych who has been in the top 6-7 for quite a few years now. Both tall, relying on big power hitting...
Just like Agut seems to be a natural successor to Ferrer, so Cilic , too, seems to be to Berdych (I thought of
comparing Marin to Delpo instead, but thought Delpo is a much more complete player than Cilic).
So is Cilic the "real deal"?
Can he repeat that "veni, vidi, vici" USO run, or will he remain the opportunist one slam wonder like his coach?
We'll find out very soon at the WTF.
What do you think?

Re: Marin Cilic, Anyone?
I can see that Cilic can win another GS on hard courts, but he doesn’t have the concentration and mentality the biggest champions. It also supports the fact that his coach Goran was rather a big shooter than a top player.
I would see him together with Stan, Rao, Nishi as players who make the second pack behind the big 4. Cilic is well taylored for hard courts, not that old as Stan, moving much better than Rao and much better serve than Nishi. Only thing which he really lacks against them is keeping focus and nerves the whole tournament.
