Do I add up points as usual and just double them on the Joker-ed match, or is there anything else, for eg, in your case, if Raonic wins you get 16 instead of 8 points and the rest is all as before.

You'd double the points meant to get. This is to push for risky (more rewarding) projections.
Not sure I understand the alternative.

I think some of you might want to rethink and place your Joker bets now that some points have been normalized.

Oh, so we have got women's matches now. That's going to be difficult, didn't follow them very much.
For the men:
I go with all the seeds, think Gulbis-Federer is the most likely one for an upset, but can't find it in me to vote for Gulbis, much as I like him (not quite enough).
1. Federer
2. Djokovic
3. Berdych (joker)
4. Raonic
For the women:
1. Sharapova
2. Muguruza
3. Tomljanovic

A question for rotla: why have all other seeds been given point increase and Raonic is still the same with "only" 8?

Because he is the only one playing an unseeded opponent.noleisthebest wrote:A question for rotla: why have all other seeds been given point increase and Raonic is still the same with "only" 8?
Point increase works like this:
The points of the lower seed in increased to maximum 33. If his/her actual seed was let's say 20 then 13 more points are added to make his/her value 33. Then 13 more points are added to the other higher seeded player. The difference in their points remain same.

Thanks, I still don't quite get it, but doesn't matter, so long as the points are there with the picks before making them.
Just thought that at this stage it's a bit unbalanced to have Raonic get just 8 points and Fed 19...
I suppose Nadal's half is going to be a no-brainer then...

Isner 0-2 sets and a break down. Berdych is playing excellent. Fed could have a very tough opponent in QF.

Re: Roland Garros 2014: MOTD Day 8 Sun 31/05/2014
Coming to this RG, Berdych's form looked poor, so I was thinking it would be quite easy for Fed, with Berdych quite possibly not even getting to play him, but Berdych has been cruising - easily demolishing everyone in his path.
In fact, the same is true for Gulbis.
So, all of a sudden Fed now has to potentially face back-to-back in-form Gulbis and Berd. Fed's draw does not look so easy anymore.

Did it look easy at the start of the tournament? It looked okay to me but not easy..Last year it was the easiest one, almost a given ticket to the finals, but lost in QF.
All his opponents have all started to pick up some very decent form. He needs to play better than he has been till now.

Initially I thought Fed's draw looked pretty good, yes. I was kind of thinking that both Gulbis (general inconsistency) and Berdych (poor form) were likely to lose before reaching the Federer match.

I have to say that - even though I need Andy to advance to prevent Rafa's semi from being a walkover - on the poit-by-point basis I am finding myself rooting for Kohli.

Just saw the scores...
Disappointing loss from Gasquet, but I suppose his back was not recovered properly, at least he made a few rounds.
Kholi....what a shame, such a fine player, Murray gets away with it again. He is second in line behind Nadal in the luck department, for sure...
At least Fed squeezed past Gulbis in the TB.....

I think Berdych is meant to look good by Isner being really tired from his set match v Simon. I'd like to see him play v a better player.

Was it Federer that just yelled out after breaking Gulbis?
I feel sorry for Earnie...he's got the crowd against him as well Federer working them into a frenzy.
I reckon Parisians love him more than the Swiss.

Why? Because he won a tight 5-setter? I think it is you having selective memory - the pieces of luck that go your way you tend to take for granted and forget quickly, but you dwell on those that go against you.noleisthebest wrote:Murray gets away with it again. Indeed. He went from serving for the set at 5:3 (and I think he may have even been 40-15 in that game) to almost being a break down.noleisthebest wrote:That was a worrying sitter FH miss for 15:40 from Fed

No, because I believe he would've lost the match if it was not suspended last night. Same as Nole against Nadal in RG 2012.

What a crazy pick-up volley from Fed that was...you can't teach it, great feel for the ball on the BH, that's one thing he's got over all other SBH-ers, esp Stan.

One set apiece feels about fair given how they have been playing, but after being 5:3 up in the second, it is a shame for Fed to be in this position.

I haven't seem the first set TB, but from this 2nd set one, is it just me, or is Fed starting to play them too safely?
He's got to change the tactics and turn the aggression on, he doesn't want this match to drag out to five sets, esp as Gulbis will be on high riding the momentum now.

Well, that is what I mean. For example, quite possibly Djokovic only won his AO13 match against Stan because of a bad line call. Yet you happily pocket that victory and do not keep coming back whining about how unfair it all was. At least in this case the luck was fair and square - what can you do when players cannot finish the match before it gets too dark?noleisthebest wrote:No, because I believe he would've lost the match if it was not suspended last night. I don't remember any line-calls, I suppose there is Hawk-Eye to sort it out these days...they are part of every match.
But if you play the best of 5 over two days, even though the play can continue but you don't want it to continue because you are losing...
than that's a different matter.
Or you refuse your opponent's valid request to have the court watered down after 6:6 in the 5th set...that's what you call TOUGH LUCK.
Obviously I won't mention touching the net, losing your first coach and other things...as that falls into a different category of "luck".
Same one Kholi had last night.

I shouldn't normally as Fed fan but I must say I did felt good for Gulbis winning the 2nd set TB. He totally deserved that set.
Its hard not to like some gutsy tennis especially against a maddening crowd.
