Missed the prediction yesterday, wasn't home all day, doing sports.
As for these guys:
1. Wawrinka - He'll be in slam form.
2. Nadal (though I'll support every game, Ginepri manages to win!)
3. How fit is Nishikori? I have some doubts, could get close, but Nishi will come through here
4. Mathieu to mess with the Nadal draw
5. Gulbis for the win!
6. Gotta go with Falla here.

Wow!
I didn't see that...I thought it was still raining in Paris, just like outside my window....silly me, I definitely need a holiday!
Poor Nishi, what a real shame!
I read Gasquet is going to play RG, too despite his back not being 100%, purely for the love of his national home tournament, which is very noble, I just hope he doesn't make things worse as he said he wasn't even able to carry his racquet bag a few weeks ago.
So sad players' bodies are breaking down like this more and more, this physical madness has really got to end, surely, The Business and The Show cannot run solely on Nadal's fitness as he seems to be the only one injury prone.

Finally, rain stops!
I remember last year when I was there, play didn't start till nearly 3 PM.....then after 2 hours there was another 1.5 hour rain delay....so all I saw was Bartoli's match and a set from Nole before I had to go back and catch the train....but it was fun!

Well, finally got a stream.
That was the coolest mini-rain break ever with Nole sharing his bench and drink with the ball-boy.
Before the cynics step in and say how he does this to buy the crowd, let me reassure he isn't. I'd do exactly the same thing, it's just a combination of genuine friendliness, good mood and joie d vivre. It really is.
Viva happy people

And while I'm at it...my beady eye has definitely spotted Becker's influence: Nole is playing a lot more aggressively, FH looking very good.
I am beginning to get excited for Wimbledon
On a different note Serbian commentator mentioned how RG is playing faster this year, giving higher bounce. I noticed the speed, but not the bounce.
This is due to the changed underlay which is not compressed chalk but now concrete.
Interesting.

I am not sure how a higher bounce can make the surface quicker. I think the commentator may have got that wrong!

Nole's BH is looking really sharp.
If it comes to the SF with Fed, we are going to see some superb tennis.

Not bad for the first match, Nole had to be sharp. He definitely played better tennis than last year against Goffin in the same round.

It is, isn't!
I didn't have a clue what a great dancer Monf is, he is oozing talent, I could watch him all day, he is so full of life!
I can't believe he was in deep depression last year because of injury, he was in a real dark place, so happy he is back, a real showman.
He had a crazy run last RG, remember his legendary 5 setters on Langlen...went down to Robredo in the end, hope he does well this year, too, don't even know where be is in the draw...

Re: Roland Garros 2014: MOTD Day 2 Monday 26/05/2014
So sad, Nishikori is already out; his fitness still suspect. I watched the match a little bit (not much unfortunately) and there were a few great points played between the two in the first set. Klizan is a dangerous player, pity Nishi was drawn to play him (would have wished him on Nadal)
Rosol the legend out as well, didn't see any of it though. Must have been lots of ball bashing.
Of Djoko I have only seen the last few points, didn't look too great there, being broken twice, but I guess he just wanted to leave court then and didn't care too much.
Gulbis already broken twice! The first set seems lost. So far he didn't win a point on the Kubot first serve.
On TV they showed the first few games of the Nadal match. Repulsive, lots of very long rallies. Not totally unexpected he has bageled Ginepri already. And that is "match of the day" on Eurosport - congrats on worst choice possible, guys!

It's incredible the level of tennis nowadays.....Compare any match with the 80s and 90s....it's so much tougher nowadays....of course technology helps....but everything else is so much better too.

Caught only a few points, GG looking really good, he is one tough cookie!
All I can find on my streams is Gulbis-Kubot, and Benneteau-Bagnis so watching Ben.

Heart-breaking loss for poor Ben, 17:15 in the 5th.....he was dead on his feet for the last 6-7 games, unlike the Argentinian who looked fresh as a daisy right to the end, scary!
At least he won by playing brace tennis.
Time to find Stan - GG stream.

Quarter to nine in Paris, they should have another 45 mins of daylight to play maximum, I don't know if Chatrier has installed floodlights or not.

If Stan gets knocked out that section of the draw is really going to open up for Monf.
He is clearly struggling with pressure of expectations and lime-light.

Re: Roland Garros 2014: MOTD Day 2 Monday 26/05/2014
I was out all day today (a very sunny and nice holiday Monday here) so did not see any tennis, but Stan's result is shameful. It must be very rare for a slam winner to go out in Rd 1 of the following slam. When was the last time it happened? If my memory serves me well, it was all the way back in 2013
I am quite looking forward to Nadal vs Thiem. Thiem is from the next generation of youngsters (after the one with Dimitrov and Raonic in it), and he has been playing quite well this year. Clay is also - I believe - his best surface. I do not expect him to beat Rafa of course, but it would be nice if he at least put up a good fight. Taking a set off Rafa, or even losing in three tight sets, would be very good.
