London 2012 Olympics: Match of The Day (Round 2)
Due to bad weather, a lot of round one matches have not been played today and are now scheduled for tomorrow, mixed up with round 2 matches:
So far, only one major upset saw Berdych open the draw up for Murray. Also Tomic losing to Nishikori was a bit of a surprise.
My observation is that this tricky surface will be rewarding for good movers.

Missed most of the matches, looking at the the score it looks like Fed dominated Benneteau
Gotta say the BBC coverage is rubbish, they claim they are showing every single event but when you look on the red button many matches aren't being covered

Just updated the scores for the day, impressive comebacks from Hewitt, Tipsarevic and Baghdatis.
You really need to hit the road running with this slippery grass, rain delays and best of 3...

"LONDON -- Uzbek gymnast Luiza Galiulina was provisionally banned from the 2012 Olympics on Sunday after becoming the second athlete in two days to test positive for a banned drug, the International Olympic Committee said.
Galiulina provided a urine sample on July 25 that showed traces of furosemide, a diuretic that can be used as a masking agent or for weight loss.
The Uzbek, scheduled to compete in artistic gymnastics, was banned a day after Albanian weightlifter Hysen Pulaku was thrown out following a positive test for an anabolic steroid.
The 20-year-old Galiulina, who also competed at the 2008 Games, will now have to wait for the testing of a second sample.
Should that also come in positive, she would be barred from competing in London and could face a maximum two-year ban as a first-time doping offender.
Galiulina, Uzbekistan's only gymnast at the Games, had been due to compete on Sunday evening, only in the floor exercise.
Furosemide, often sold under the brand name Lasix, can be used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure or edema (swelling caused by excess fluid retention). It has also been used to prevent horses from bleeding through the nose during races."

"big names from big countries"
Yeah, the big names with REALLY big muscles from Spain and France
have curiously exiled themselves in advance. :affraid:
How could the Uzbek gymnast and her team not know about the seriousness of London's anti-doping initiative?

Yes, you will never hear of an American athlete being doped. They know they are covered, like they were in Seoul 1988. Sick.

Martin BC IPlayer shows entire matches. You should be able to watch it via a proxy (whatever that means):

Murray takes the advantage of rattled Niemenen (footfault) and breaks in the first game.
I wonder if he's going to be given any foot-faults

What more can you expect from the British commentators, same tripe about Murray all the time
They are forgetting that Murray only made the Wimbledon final cause he didn't have to go through the top 3 to get there
He has Novak standing in his way this time
Venus was incredible today, she made quite a statement in that match,I just wonder if she can keep it up

Didn't see her. Raining in Berks, so I'm assuming there's no play on other courts. Just checked, Baghdatis cleared Gasquet in straights!

Watching Raonic Tsonga now. 8 all in the third.
Fascinating to watch two great servers having to win the match not with serving but returning. Neither that great in that department.
Raonic looking really funny wearing that white bandana..

What I like about this match compared to the Isner Mahut one, is that the guys are actually playing tennis here, not just vegetating.

Lots of controversy over the 16 year old Chinese swimmer,Ian Thorpe claims this is the best testing ever done at any Olympics, cheaters will be caught
Over 6000 athletes will be tested,in comparison to former olympics where only around 2000 athletes were tested
No wonder El Toro did a runner
