Murray Out of the French Open
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/22540156
As expected in a way but really annoying as this makes it an unbalance draw. One will have Nadal, the other will have Ferrer.
I am hoping Djoko gets Nadal and Federer get Ferrer.
Regarding Murray he has had physical problems for years. He plays a tennis he was never built to play. A guy that tall should have shorter rallies, and be agressive. He plays like Ferrer with Soderling frame. Absurd!!!..even if it gave him a slam...which Soderling hasn't.

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
Strange one....but I am not too surprised.
Despite all the "faster than Bolt" palaver, all the fitness hype talk that preceeded every slam, Murray never looked a natural athlete.
The limits he must have pushed himself in training, esp weights... there is only so much poor back can take...think how much it had to suffer in order to "build" those legs!
Even if he was in the draw, I don't think he would've made it to the semis.
I don't think the injury is that bad, the decision is more preventitive; he is saving himself for Wimbledon. Imagine the pressure when THAT starts...his back is not going to like it at all.

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
And Delpo is back to his injury/unfit days. He too has withdrawn from RG.

Tenez wrote:oh no...not another mono!
The list has become alarmingly long: Ancic, Soderling Federer, Isner, Roddick, Bartoli, Del Potro...
I don't remember anyone having mono in the past like this....or in any other sports.
Apparently, it's called the "kissing disease". Interesting article:

Murray may be out of French Oppen, but he has been busy. This is the latest cover of some magazine. Andymania has begun!
I shudder to think what he'd look like without the photo-shop

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
Who else agrees with me that its been a wonderful tournament without Murray?
I cant bare the thought of having to go back to hearing the likes of Andrew Castle droolling over Murray at Wimbledon
Heres hoping for an early upset or withdrawl there too

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
I don't think he would've made any progress here at all.
His game is going backwards now. He'll be maybe winning an odd Masters 1000 here or there, but nothing else much.
I don't think it was a good decision for him to miss RG, but I certainly didn't mind.
Wimbledon is going to be painful, as usual....and competition is tougher this year than last year I think.

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
He withdrew to give himself a better shot at Wimbledon, cause I think his camp actully believe he has a legitimate shot at winning it after having made the final there last year

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
I have a feeling that camp just tells him what he wants to hear, more or less.
They have to keep him motivated somehow, it's not easy to have him push himself physically through all the fitness training he does, no wonder his back caved in!
It was very disappointing how they dispatched Karlovic out of his way last year with all those foot-faults, one thing poor Karlo could not check with Hawk-eye. Just ugly.
Grass will give a better chance to many players this year: Dimitrov, JJ, Paire maybe, Raonic I am not sure about, but maybe even him: they are going to be difficult in the opening rounds whoever gets them in the draw.
Will be fascinating to see the draw. I am secretly hoping for Rosol in Nadal's quarter.

For some reasons I expect a few upsets at Wimby this year...and I also hope they will provide faster balls. I am going to buy the new slaz very soon.

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
Do you think those are the same they use for the matches?
I've still got the brand new one I caught during last year's Olympic final on my desk and it looks the same as the other ones I have if not a little bit bigger.

Re: Murray Out of the French Open
Yes they should have the same specs as those sold to public...the difference is that they may have been going through a tougher selection process.
