Azarenka v Li - the Australian Women Final
I think it deserves a thread....even if I might not watching it whole.
Allez Li! She won the French already so she could hold 2 slams...I don't think Aza won one after the AO12.

Re: Azarenka v Li - the Australian Women Final
This is one of those finals where I am totally indifferent as have no preference for either player.
I used to dislike Azarenka and then got won over by that match against Serena last USO final.
The other way round with Li: I used to like her tennis until I saw the match against Sharapova in the semi, where she stayed glued to the base-line virtually all match except once when Sharapova sent her a great sliced FH ball and forced to move forward.
So, whoever shows more heart and flair I'll cheer for that player for about an hour after which I'll be going to the gym), so:

Aza seems so angry.

Aza is another Nadal....seen how she makes her opponent wait. I hate that. Gamesmanship pure and simple. And what she did to Stephens is unexcusable.

Yes!!!
That really seems ages ago now. I know Henin played there but must've lost before the final, then.
Her and Cijsters played a great final in the warm-up to AO, I think it was in Brisbane, and I forgot even who won that (I'm pretty sure it was Justine).
Yes, that was Li's big break through, and who can forget those old-fashioned jokes about her snoring husband....apparently she's been "recycling" them again all over again this year

The AO crowd is as partial as the French crowd.

I like a bit of atmosphere they create, they certainly make the place unique, I'd probably be as mad as all of them, probably wouldn't stick out there, as much as I do in O2 or Wimbers with my passionate Nole cheering, I really did annoy a couple of fat Italians - Fed fans .

This will be a good test for Li, formerly very fragile mentally. Seems Rodgriges has done a good job with her confidence.
Funnily, Azarenka used to be the same but also toughened up.
As Tsonga said a few days ago: not easy being a woman

Re: Azarenka v Li - the Australian Women Final
It would be a miracle if Li loses this. The only way will be if she collapses mentally, but that's up to Azarenka if she can put some pressure on.

Re: Azarenka v Li - the Australian Women Final
I really like watching Kirilenko play, she is such a feisty player, remember her match in the same year Li lost in the final (that was in fact a really good AO in women's tennis), she knocked Sharapova out in the first round, it was a great catfight

she is not that successful, so you don't hear about her much, but every time I saw her play she was a great fighter. Saw her lose to Serena in one of those middle of the night matches last week, (while waiting for another match).

Re: Azarenka v Li - the Australian Women Final
I have been watching the whole match... lots BPs, 15 breaks till now.. too many noisy shrieks from vika, Aus Day fireworks, a terrible accident for Li.. and amidst those .. some brilliant tennis.
Come on LI..
Come on LI..

Azarenka won.. I think the injury might have started to affect Li. Anyway, good match and a good AO for both players.
