Nothing against him either, I just like other young ones to beat him, he doesn't matter in tennis world.

Re: Grass Court season - Wimbledon tune-ups
well...
he has been number 12 of the world 4 years ago... and has been top 20 for a long time in his career
I wish I was number 12 in the world in anything really

Experience, experience, experience!!!!!
The 4 grass finalists this year are 28, 34, 37, 37!!!
And some id....people still think one peaks at 26?
Ridiculous!

I mean, as far as game style goes, I also prefer Lopez to FAA. FAA is more interesting to me only because he is young so one wants to see how good he can be.

Is that so? That could be more important here than at RG as the draw may be less balanced here - with no obvious 4th favorite to complement the top 3.Jahu wrote:Fed needs to win tomorrow to get Seed 2 at W.
Hopefully he wins tomorrow.

Fed a bit loose so far, 3:2 but had to save it from 0:40

Set 1 to Fed on TB, average so far just enough to win.

All in all quite comfortable for Fed. Now that I saw him play SF/F I am more hopeful than I was earlier in the week when I only saw the scores. Fed looked to me like he was playing in the second gear and could play better if needed.

10th Halle title. Unreal to win one tournament 10 times. I wonder if that was done before.

It’s a blot on his record, makes him look like a typical limited monosurface specialist.Jahu wrote:summerblues wrote:10th Halle title. Unreal to win one tournament 10 times. I wonder if that was done before.

Agree, only another W in a few weeks can wash off this huge blot.

Yeah, some of his double faults made me think that maybe he still has a Fed poster hanging in his room.Jahu wrote:usual.Goff choking.

Choking has been his trademark, he is 28, best rank #7, and has 1 500 and 3 250

What are Simon and Goffin doing in grass court finals anyway?

Re: Grass Court season - Wimbledon tune-ups
Looking at Simon's path to the final he barely scraped through to get here - his first four rounds:
7:6 third set over Ward
Three sets vs Anderson
7:6 third set over Mahut
Three sets vs Medvedev

Come on Simon, dont give up!!!
What kind of middle of the court tennis shit match is this? Occasional net play by Lopez and not good at it. Net points on 2nd set were 4 each, so SImon can volley equally good.

Grass court tennis AKA real tennis. Well done Fed.

Fed played great when relaxed in the 2nd set. But he did allow many chances to Goffin in 1st set. They could easily have proved costly against a better opponent.

Baghdatis has announced Wimbledon will be his last tournament.
Have to say I admired his attitude to sport. Clearly had a real enjoyment for the sport and enjoyed being out on court no matter where it was.

Re: Grass Court season - Wimbledon tune-ups
so seeds for wimbledon are out
Nadal would get djokovic and federer in semis and final (no order there)
in quarters it is thiem, zverev, tsitsipas or nishikori
in 4th round cilic, coric, raonic or monfils
in 3rd round de minaur, pella, pouille, paire, shapovalov, edmund, djere, lajovic

Ok, now he needs the 50/50 draw to go for him and he has a chance.
C’mon, Djokovic get Nadal.

Yes Bagdhatis is actually the player who sums up best the problem the young generation is facing. He was a talented player when he first arrived on the scene...He had a cracking FH which was hurting lots of players like Fed's FH was feared back then. But tennis evolved to such a point that cracking shots a la Roddick, Fed and Bagdhatis were simply not enough as the ball was coming back through those very mobile, riskless, solid players.
Unless one has a good day a la Kyrgios, the tennis that pays is not the one who kills rallies, it is the one which brings the ball back....and that was not Bagdha's style.

Re: Grass Court season - Wimbledon tune-ups
If this is the list, then I would choose this as the easiest possible route for Fed:naxroy wrote:so seeds for wimbledon are out

Rd3: Pella
Rd4: Monfils
QF: Nishikori
SF: Anderson
Hardest possible:
Rd3: Shapovalov
Rd4: Cilic (in spite of his form)
QF: Tsitsipas
SF: Nadal
But really, other than the SF Kev vs Nadal, I do not see all that much difference in the earlier rounds. Especially since the potentially strongest early opponents (Cilic, Shapo) are struggling with form.

Indeed he had natural flair. He didn't fit the 'professional' mould and was certainly a throwback to generations past.

NAdal has to get past the likes of Dustin Brown first.
