Following on the other thread:
Today is fed's last slim chance to recover his number 1 spot after Wilbledon.

I still think that if Federer retains Wimbledon he will be y/e #1.
I don’t see Nadal winning the USO (last years draw is unlikely to be repeated) and on the assumption Federers back holds up he’s going to gain a lot.

The hope comes from the Aussie’s name - de Minaur, and for some reason I’ve always read it as Minotaur...
Now I know why!

Strangely I read him as de Minor.....short and toothless game....but I agree that v Nadal he coudl do some damage.

You’re right....
For some reason I imagined him to be a tall, blond, big serving Aussie...and he turns out to be a 5ft 11 Spaniard....
“De Minaur was born in Sydney to a Spanish mother and a Uruguayan father. De Minaur has three younger siblings (Dani, Cristina and Sara).[5] He spent the first five years of his life in Australia before locating to Alicante, Spain. De Minaur returned to Australia in 2012. His parents returned to Spain in 2016”
Ah well....d minor indeed....
...though!!!
I’ll still stick with my Minotour instinct...let’s hope he’s picked up some of Hewott’s diehard Aussie spirit while he was living there

Tsitsipas is the new Guga. He very much reminds me the Brazilian. Not only his BH but his mouvement, style and personality.

Paire doesn't have the belief of a champion and that's why he falls apart on serve in tiebreak. And falls apart in general.

Looks like a little kid. Nadal doesn’t look very impressive though, should be stomping him easier than this.luvsports! wrote:Can't see De Minaur having much of a chance today. Not enough firepower

De Minaur is a quality player. He will a top tenner in the next few years but Nadal is just so awkward to play when you aren’t used to him. Slightly worrying though that it looks like he will have had a very easy first week.noleisthebest wrote:And I repeat, how on Earth did this boy make R3 in Wimbledon...and no, don't tell me about "Nadal's ball"...noleisthebest wrote:Wow, on close up, Minny looks like he's 15!

Re: Wimbledon 2018 Day 6 - Prediction
Had a peek at the draw...Nadal playing winner of Fabio/Vesely.
Finally a decent opponent.
Naturally, I would love it to be Fabio..watching him now....so much flair and skill...and after seeing him live in RG, I can safely say - best DBH.
Don't know which one is better - the flat topsin or slice...both equally breathtaking.

Nadal loves those toothless shots from de Minus! He knows he can get to all shots and has time to inject his spin into the ball. It probably reminds him the good all days when he was hammering Fed's BH and the ball was coming back soft and easy to whack!

A stat for Daniel...and other sceptics.
Nadal hits his second serve 6mph (10kmh) faster on average. And as Becker says 10kmh is a lot.
It shows players keep improving their shots.

I am not sure why players put Djoko in the same league as Nadal in time taking. Completely different league. Nadal is a much worse offender.

Not really impressed with Djokovic here. Very neutral.
Edmund was shown in the last round to be very ordinary here.

I talked to my friend who is a line judge at Wimbledon and told her about my impression of the grass being greener than previous years and she told me she did not notice and asked me whether I my description of the "dry-hay" grass was not what I saw in the second week? But anyway many people don;t pay attention to details.
It still looks a difficult court to play long rallies....I am hoping they will water it more tomorrow sunday.

I like this "new" Nole, reminds me of the young Nole.
Hopefully he shakes off all the shackles in this match and wins.
It won't be on fitness, that's for sure.
