Who will be the first player to win a slam?
Re: Who will win his first Slam first?
Tough question!
I'd say Zverev: good head, big serve, tough competitor and stamina.
He has room for improvement.
Same with Thiem.
Nishi looks an obvious choice, but he doesn't seem to have the sense of entitlement about him.
No fire at all.
Plus an average serve.
Kurgios looks to be injury prone, Raonic is going backwards...

I'll go for Nishi first.
Then
Thiem
Zverev
Chung
Kyrgios
Then
Thiem
Zverev
Chung
Kyrgios

Nishikori? LOL no chance. Not got the serve or the bottle, and is aging. Thiem and Krygios certainly do.

Nishikori? LMAO. Great ball striking but injured too much and generally terrible vs the players ranked higher than him. Nadal, Murray, Federer and Djokovic would all have to be knocked out if Nishikori were to capitalize.
Raonic looked like he was going in a positive direction at the AO 2016 but since then he seems to have regressed.
From the younger generation, i.e. Kyrgios, Thiem, Zverev, I think Kyrgios will likely win a slam first if he can continue to improve his attitude and he isn't injured. He has the most raw talent IMO. Zverev looks good to me as well but is very tall so hopefully he won't have injury issues. I don't understand all of the hype around Thiem. Great attitude and hard worker but his game is overrated.

Re: Who will win his first Slam first?
Talking f Nishikori, he is beginning to remind me of early Nole.
When things gets tough, he is quick to call the trainer.
I don't mind it, but it's a sure sign of lack of belief.
Having said that, I also noticed he is becoming more vocal on the court, expressing emotions which I think is a good sign - he is expecting more from himself and rightly so.
I wouldn't be surprised if he won USO just not sure whether he is really injured/physically fragile or just wilting under pressure.
If Murray won USO in 2013, surely Nihikori can, too.
If I were his coach I'd do something about his serve asap. He can do better there despite his height.
Even hire an expert coach for it...can't see Chang being much of a help in that area.

Re: Who will win his first Slam first?
I see Raonic/Goffin/Tsonga as not quite good enough to be likely to ever win a slam. Not impossible, but not very likely.
Chung/Elmyr, and even Zverev are I think still too far from that.
So that leaves Nishi/Thiem/Kyrgios:
Nishi is currently playing best tennis of the three, and he has a good enough game to have a chance, but I am not convinced of his temperament - too much of a choker in the big moments.
Thiem is probably playing second best, but something is telling me he will have hard time advancing to the next level where he can become competitive with the very best.
Kyrgios may currently be the least reliable of the three, but I think he has most raw potential, as well as the right temperament to become great - his general silliness notwithstanding.
That is why I voted for him.

Yes I agree with most of that SB. ....but again, regarding Nishi woudl you have foreseen Stan as a double slam winner when he was 26....ranked number 15 in the world?

Will go with Thiem. Think he has all the tools. Just needs a bit more on the serve and I'll think he'll be a handful for the current establishment.

Fair enough, I agree Nishi could be the one, I just think Kyrgios has a better chance.Tenez wrote:Yes I agree with most of that SB. ....but again, regarding Nishi woudl you have foreseen Stan as a double slam winner when he was 26....ranked number 15 in the world?
