No she can't.....No-one can cause Djoko has reached that confidence level where he can play relaxe. It's down to murray to relax and use his power to pace the ball up instead of muscling it....problem is taht he uses that "safe" baseground game to get through more talented players like Mannarino who can't move as well as Djok but v Djkoo there is no solution....I doubt he will beat him again now.

Yes, that was a nice point, but so much more can be done with slice than just sending it crosscourt.
He basically replaced his DBH in both shots as he doesn't trust it and it worked.
It was more out of panic, although it looked really good.

It's interesting how Fed chose to play in the game he broke Raonic, he took all the pace off and confused Raonic who didn't adjust but kept belting the ball.

Another dull & predictable 5 inside out FHs in a row point from Raonic and Fed earns 2 BPs at the start of 2nd set with a beautiful, short sliced BH Raonic nets.

Courier had some really good commentary the other night- he gives credit to Rafa as a top 3 all time player- said Fed is GOAT, but Nadal might be the toughest one match matchup in history of tennis...   He began to speak about how amazing it was that Federer was able to continuously adjust his style, his game as needed and it was because of his uber talent. Said has so many tools in the toolbox, he can adjust like no other before. He said he thinks tennis has caught up to Nadal and that Nadal would have to seriously consider adjusting in a big way to remain at the top over the next 3 years. He said he needed to start taking the ball earlier, stepping up to the baseline on return and during points, cut the points shorter, etc, but he had serious doubts if Nadal was capable of morphing like Federer has. He said "Rafa hasn't had to adjust much in his career for anyone. eventually Djokovic gave him trouble and he was able to make some small adjustmensts, but I'm not sure Nadal has the type of talent and tools Federer has to really move with the times and become a different player.  Â
The feeling for Courier was Nadals time was getting short.

I suppose that's his way of saying what we all think but really wrapped up so Nadal does not look too bad.
Nadal can't adjust even if he tried.
His way of adjusting is halving his season in order to give best shot for RG.
Why doesn't he serve and volley like Federer?
8 metres behind the baseline yesterday, come on...
How can that be considered great!!!

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Indian Wells
Sadly I did not watch the Fed/Rao match but I saw most of teh Djoko v Murray match and frankly it was a terrible match. How can we talk about the great 4 when watching that. Nadal is actually more fun to watch nowadays. Sure Djoko brings the ball back and sends a good regular ball...but he is certainly not a great shot maker, is he? A brilliant Hewitt, but a Hewitt...BB was right about that.
Murray was moving like a tank but firing like a water pistol! Pathetic. What's the point Murray having so much muscles if it to play like a teanager. Frankly Kokki or Coric would have done better today.
Fed will lose tomorrow cause on those slow court Djoko's Bh will be more solid than Fed's BH......but the game will suffer and Fed will make it look better than it is.....really sad.
Frustrating. Well done Larry! Your man lost yesterday and now the tennis world will be at a loss too.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Indian Wells
I found these stats on another site. They belong in the goat thread which I couldnt find. Just puts into context what the nearly 34 year old weak era federer has done in this supposed golden era.
Since RG 2014, Fed is 15-2 against top 10 opponents, one of the better 17 match runs against top 10 opponents in history. He's 33 years old.
For comparison, Sampras was 6-4 TOTAL against top 10 players after turning 30.
Agassi: 31-29
Lendl: 25-19
Becker: 3-3
Edberg: 7-5
McEnroe: 11-23
Wilander: 2-8
Courier: 0-0
Federer: 47-24
Sampras + Becker + Edberg + McEnroe +Courier + Wilander= 29-43
Federer: 47-24
EVERY #1 player (13 players) since Lendl other than Agassi and their aggregate accomplishments after turning 30:
332 match wins
6 titles [One slam, USO]
6 other finals made
1 slam final, 2 QFs
FEDERER
231 match wins
16 titles [including Wimbledon, WTF undefeated (oldest to win), Cincy 2X, IW, Madrid, Shanghai)
13 other finals made
Slam RU, 5 slam SFs made,
GOAT

Actually I don't think he's done incredibly well, he could've done much more had conditions not slowed down.Kim Jong-Un wrote:Federer has done incredibly well, he is one of the all time greats, although I can't remember anyone saying the current era is golden.

I agree, after seeing Nole yesterday, he's the favourite, he rules slow hard courts.Tenez wrote:

I wouldn't say Fed's without a chance, but it will be very hard for him, a lot will depend on his serving.
Also, despite winning his last 3 matches in straight sets, he'll be feeling it in his body today.
Nole coming into final both in his physical prime and fresher legs due to that w/ from Tomic.
