Nole is a better NATURAL athlete than Andy. Simple as that. Murray can hold his head high, He lost to a better player.

Watching Nole serve for the match now, still don't know whether he ripped hit t-shirt or not....doesn't matter if he didn't I did it for him (well, I tried, these cotton ones are really tough to split!)

Perhaps Nole saves shirts for matches with Morybundus. He did not sweat it at all, so it would be too cheap to rip it without a real fight

Re: I'm Happy And I Know It!
Love this paragraph from P. Bodo:
"Djokovic won it, going away: 6-7 (2), 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-2. And he won it despite a start so slow that it seemed nearly providential that he didn’t find himself down two sets to none. “So what?” a Djokovic partisan might say to that. “He just would have won it in five then.”
Amen to that. All I can say is that despite the exception that seems toprove the rule—Murray’s five-set win over Djokovic in the U.S. Open final last year—Nole’s rivals are fortunate that the format puts a cap on five sets. If tennis were a best-of-seven, nine, or 13 set affair, this guy probably would be invincible."
And no, I don't think he's talking about fitness here

Ten, you need to look more closer at the final, then you also start enjoying Nole´s game and spirit. Just with a bit more concentration, it may be better to watch more times. Good luck!

Re: I'm Happy And I Know It!
Paul - I know Djoko's game pretty well...and frankly, I do not see much variation.
He beat twice Federer at the USO by outlasting him not outsmarting him, he even beat Seppi by outlasting him, same with Tsonga, Wawrinka, Dolgo, very young Tomic and even Nadal.....so frankly, I am still waiting for that variation.
I am not unhappy he won today....I am just unhappy he won v Stan. Today I coudl not care much cause the tennis they produce is simply not good. YOu cannot have an average of 10 shot rallies and yet have quality...it's impossible.
Today it was like choosing the black death and the cholera.
It's difficult to explain why we suppot one player....but frankly there must be other reasons to support Djoko and Murray than their shot making ability.

Re: I'm Happy And I Know It!
In comparison the Federer, his game is very "limited"
In comparison to the rest of the draw he is a pretty well rounded player who has very little weaknesses with regards to how the game is played and what it takes to win
I guess it all boils down to what it takes to win, variation would be useless if it didnt help you win just as athleticism would be useless if it didnt help you win
With Nadal I always sensed that the sport would become too much about who the better athlete is,with Djokovic I feel he is kinda reminding everyone that tennis is still a racket sport
He may not have Federer's shot making ability but had it not been for him imagine what the sport would have turned into if everyone was still chasing Nadal

But i's not that "rounded" game that wins him majors.....it's his fitness. It was never more obvious than v Wawrinka. Every shot from Stan were more penetrating, pacier, and sharper and I can name easily 20 other players that have better FHs and BH than Djoko....I cannot name one who moves faster and for as long. It's that simple.

I am not against supporting different players, especially if it is Fed. But except him, there is no better complete player than Nole and what is more Nole plays with a unreal spirit and an incredible belief. I do not agree that Nole just outlast players, he plays more often with players as a cat with a mouse and has a pack of tennis virtuosity in himself. Just to take a closer look at his matches.
I would also prefer the final between Nole and Fed, but Fed is not able to catch on this surface with his BH on the BL. Even he played with body limitation and wanted to short rallies as he could he just was not able, he practically did not get a chance to come to the net. I was amazed by Fed´s great defense game, yes Fed´s defense and Murray´s aggressivity. So that today HC game has developed in the way that the double BH took over the control in matches and stamina has a big role in it. But therefore we can not critise players for their stamina. Every surface produce own champions.
As for Nole´s match with Stan. Nole underestimated their match and also did an elementary mistake with new shoes. Stan took his opportunity and played the match of his life. Their match was like a fresh air, but it was due to a sub par Nole and great performance from Stan. Just a special match.

That would definitely be true against someone who isnt as fit as him, where as he beats players who are as fit as him with his shot making, because the fitter ones rely more on athleticism and the shot makers relay more on their shot making ability.
Djokovic is by no means the best ball striker, that we agree with, but you cant deny he is one hell of a lot better then El Toro-thats my point. At least he is still pretty much a tennis player regardless of which way he wins
The thing is Nadal changed the game a lot,to beat him to had to become fitter, stronger, more powerful and endure longer, rather then improve your technique or shots, look how much Murray has improved his athleticism to give himself a better shot at winning, thats just simp,y what it took to win,he is faster, fitter and is hitting with more power.Djokovic moved with the times, evolved the way the sport was evolving by matching the player to beat-Nadals athleticism to beat him . but he has now set the benchmark that you cant win on athleticism alone to beat him.You have to be as fit as him, plus you have to be a good shotmaker. At the moment it seems like most have 1 or the other,or 1 more then the other, but not enough both to stand a chance
At the end of the day tennis is a sport and is competitive, people will do whatever it takes to win,so you cant really blame them for changing their game to win which ever way ,at lest Djokovic takes tennis back to still being a racket sport more where as Nadal was making it all about athleticism

If by "complete" you mean "has also legs and lungs...then yes...but shot wise..certainly not. He BH slice his ugly, his BH and FH are pretty average etc..etc..paulcz wrote:I am not against supporting different players, especially if it is Fed. Yes, that's his fitness giving him that confidence and self belief...he waits for Federer, Wawrinka, Tsonga, Seppi to tire to finally "believe".and what is more Nole plays with a unreal spirit and an incredible belief.
BUt Paul, if you play tennis you might know that playing Cat&Mouse tennis at an average of 5 or 10 rallies per shot requires first of all legs and lungs. What's funny is that you can see it in Nadal but not in Djoko. Honestly, I think it's you that needs to have a better look at Djoko. And in fact if you are honest, you are agreeing that teh reason Stan coudl blast Djoko of court is because Djoko had the wrong shoes and coudl not move as well. (I don;t believe that;s teh reason though but since you do, it's an admission that what separates from teh rest is his absurd mouvement).I do not agree that Nole just outlast players, he plays more often with players as a cat with a mouse and has a pack of tennis virtuosity in himself. I think I have made no secret to say that Nadal would struggle being in the top 50 talent wise...in fact I m quite sure he would not had he not been pumped up like this.Veejay wrote:Djokovic is by no means the best ball striker, that we agree with, but you cant deny he is one hell of a lot better then El Toro-thats my point. At least he is still pretty much a tennis player regardless of which way he wins

I mean in today's players even....The main thing though is none can have better ones at the end of a 10-shot rally. That's tennis nowadays.paulcz wrote:Tenez wrote:

Disagree, Nole´BH is fairly one of the best, FH fairly in top.

Disagree, the spirit is mainly a matter of nature and education from his home place and family. Look at the Ferrer, the great stamina but impossible to do a "final" break.

Look at the couple of Net game statistics and winners. The pack of Nadal, Berd, Delpo, Ferrer, Tips are players who just rely on their BL game. Nole game is by far more versatile.
As for Nole with Stan, if you take wrong shoes as it was the case of Nole i.e. the new shoes with a film on sole, there is nothing you can do even you are tennis God. It has nothing to do with stamina.
Re: I'm Happy And I Know It!
I don't think you get Novak as a player, Tenez.
Your analysis of him is very symplistic and he is far more than a doped road-runner as you like to portray him.
His strengths under current playing conditions aren't in having a piercing forehand, or a killer backhand.
He has been able to glue all his shots together to serve the game that he plays and that suits him at the moment.
For all Stan's shot-making talent he showed against Nole (and that was a one off for him, I have seen quite a few of Stan's matches) he has never had foot-work to match it.
Tennis is half in the hands and half in the legs.
Nole seems to have exceptional legs and he is a fantastic mover. That is a deadly weapon in tennis.
I have watched him closely several times now, and his movement really is a thing of beauty. You can't appreciate it watching him on TV only.
He can do a lot of things with the ball and does have a great variety in his game which is showing more and more now.
He isn't and probably never will be a natural forward pushing Federer.
I'd love him to conquer his demons one day and let loose, but if it doesn't happen, no big deal.
He did what Federer couldn't: he beat Murray today. And he's been beating Nadal regularly.
And it's not just because he can run or because he is fit.
As Paul said, Ferrer is just as fit but how does he compare to top 4?

Re: I'm Happy And I Know It!
Surprised you think like that Paul...as I believe you are a decent player. Look at Nadal...he was very strong mentally....as long as he knew his fitness was better than his opponents....the day Djoko became as fit, Nadal's mental cracked. DJoko strong mental as you say did not help him to find himself match points down against all those players. Have rewatched that USO11 semi? He cracked in first set TB, versus Fed, he also cracked in that second set after having lost the first set and watch that 5th set game where he is broken...even throwing a double fault. And he played those MPs as someone who finally relaxed cause he had nothing to lose...but when he had everything to lose he was the one who cracked first. Frankly you cannot take the "distance" factor in his wins and as a tremendous effect in his mind. The day he plays against someone who can outlast him...he will crack like everybody else!!! I a afraid Paul but Djoko is the new "morinbundus". One day you will realise.paulcz wrote:

That's a nice brochette of 1D players. Yes compared with them Djoko is 1.1 D...but essentially this going to the net and all that variation happens as he plays 10 or plus shot rallies....he is therefore going to have to finish a few points at the net...I rarely see him go the net straigth away and brave a chip&charge. In that respect he is very much like Nadal again...he only goes when he is 99% sure he will get an easy volley.Look at the couple of Net game statistics and winners.

Your analysis of him is very symplistic and he is far more than a doped road-runner as you like to portray him.
You coudl listen to amri and other of his fans...they will tell you how great and complex Nadal's game is. It's no different. The game I get it very clearly...unlike you I watch his matches ...and without being emotionally involved.
