He just won the challenger after beating McDonald 1 and 4.

I think he can be the next number 1....if he puts his mind into it. I know he is not there but he always had the game to beat the top players. He just needs a healthy patch...and from there talent and  confidence can do the rest.

And get some pop in that serve. Always felt that was an area of big weakness in his game. 

And as you say, staying healthy will be of paramount importance too.

I doubt it. We've seen at the AO (f.i. Djoko, Dimi) what happens if the serve isn't consistantly a significant shot.

I thought he got married when I saw the title....

As for Nishi number one etc...if he hasn’t done it by now he never will.

Nice to see him win, otherwise an embarrassment to Samurai land, totally failed us.

Cannot see him reaching #1. Not enough firepower, esp on serve, nor consistent enough when it matters.

I don’t get the love for Nishikori. He’s a good player but I don’t see what’s so special.

On his best day. And they come few and far in between. His game and body both are fragile.

He needs more power in the modern game, especially on serve where he does not get enough free points.
