That’s in the past and not relevant in this match.

The point is he had a real opportunity to go 2 breaks up and I would’ve backed him to see the set out. With 1, I’d be 50-50 at best. With this current Federer.

First set is key and has been for a while with Fed.

It's not even that Djok's playing good.  He's been soundly beaten for most of the set.  It's Fed who is just giving things up--- every single time.

Thank heavens he had a good few years when he could play the clutch points.  He's still playing at a level which 90% of tour players who have ever played could only dream of, competing hard with the very best, entertaining his fans and, hopefully, enjoying it.  For some time now everything good that happens has been bunce for me.  I guess the reasons why he keeps going include that he doesn't see it that way - he still wants to win.

Fed may force it into 4 sets, but Djoko is right in the driving seat now, he wins something like 96% of matches where he has the 1st set.

Like watching a boa consume a deer. First set was squeezing the life out of it and the rest will be consuming it. Not a pretty sight.

I think one stat he's rightly proud of is that there are no RET in his career of 1,500 matches, only a handful of W/O.  Once he's decided he's fit enough to play he sticks around to take what comes.  I'd be astonished if today was the first RET.

And that is a truly astounding stat and I know he’ll see it through. 

He’s not going down without some form of fight. I just wish it were one which had a knockout blow.
