Re: ATP MASTERS 1000: Paris Bercy
I do not know what issues Nole may or may not have had but somehow I think he is not too heartbroken for having lost at Bercy in his first match after he clinched YE #1.

Because I think he is happy with #1 and he has bigger fish to fry than this tournament.

Did not see it, cannot tell. But even if he did not, it is hard to believe he took it with the same seriousness of a Wimbledon final.
I think he may care more about WTF and I am pretty sure he will care a lot about the AO. In fact I am quite looking forward to this AO. Cannot decide who between the top three I am tipping to win.

He cared about Bercy, but was sick and throwing up last few days.
I was food poisoned once and couldn't get out of bed the next day.
You didn't expect him to retire, did you?

Re: ATP MASTERS 1000: Paris Bercy
And as for tomorrow....
now that Nole is out and I can take my enormous blinkers off, Bercy has become exciting!
Nole's half was packed with dangerous players (unlike Fed's/Murray's)
so all of a sudden they will be all really excited about the chance of winning a Masters, I'm thinking Raonic and Delpo in particular.
The matches are:
Court Central: (9.30 UK time)
Anderson - Berdych
Simon - Nishikori (can this match be any more different from the Anderson Berdych one!?)
Murray - Janowicz (the new Rosol)
Del Potro - Llodra
Tsonga - Almagro
Wawrinka - Ferrer (poor Stan...)
Court One (not before 2.30 UK time):
Monaco - Tipsarevic
Raonic - Querrey

Anyway, what do you think of the next few months? Somehow I have this feeling that neither Roger nor Nole will be too stressed over WTF so I have my sights at AO already. Who do you expect to win there? Maybe I am crazy but I am inclined to go with Roger.

Nishikori - after I've seen him use massive gamesmanship against Berd in Tokyo - no time for him. Will always cheer for the opponent.summerblues wrote:...and to add something closer to the spirit of the thread, I am hoping Nishikori can do something big here.

When Berd was serving to stay in the match (and you know how important serve is to Berd, and how fussy his prep is), Nishi started disrupting him big time, like stop Berd and walk to towel himself etc. It worked. Bird lost and The Jap won as he was taught by his previous coach, Gilbert: ugly.summerblues wrote:noleisthebest wrote:Nishikori - after I've seen him use massive gamesmanship against Berd in Tokyo - no time for him. Yes saw that match and it was bad. And what else to expect from the newer generation. They see how some of the players are using gamesman-tactics to win and on so many occasions. Its only natural that the younger players will also start doing it.
Another example: Murray who was quite quick and get-on-with-the-game kind with his service games. Now he changed it entirely taking almost twice the time since Miami 2012. Why?? He has learnt that some of the top player do it and it works for them. They break these time-rules regularly and nothing happens ( who gives a damn about a silly warning even if that happens at all).

put it this way, today was one of those days when I enjoyed my bike-ride there and back more. I started off really nice and relaxed and then...drifted away in my thoughts, lost the focus and was -ing on the inside, a bit like Nole yesterday

triumphing doesn't bother me that much, more annoyed with myself when I lose focus, head in the clouds type, I can get away with it in everything else except tennislegendkillar wrote:Ah I have had those days. Well I am playing a leftie which spurs me on as I find them the scurge of park tennis
I tend to have hitting sessions with me brother and friends. I find rythym can be a pain when lost.

you can still get the tickets, I've got one for the morning session on Monday (just got it so I have one bagged) and the final.
Ideally, Nole plays in both, but will get tickets for his matches when the schedule comes out. I'd like to see as much of him as I can while WTF is in London, apparently it's here only til 2013, and you know how difficult it is to do it during Wimbledon, where the only thing for sure is that the last year's champions plays the first match on CC on Monday, and what use is that knowledge to a Nole fan for next Wimbers!

I heard a little rumour that London had secured the WTF for another 3 years beyond 2013
I shall look on ticketmaster later one.
Wimbers is a nightmare. The raffle starts as early as December now! Grrrr

Yes and a couple of long rallies forced Jano to pull the trigger too early and even induced easy UEs.
This match really shows how a youngster simply knows already he has no chance physically to keep the ball in court and is constantly trying to shorten the point. Jano is playing too many drop shots....but he is fun to watch.

He shouldn't've got broken with that serve.
He moves pretty well for his size to the point when he doesn't look out of place like the other giraffes.
His game is not based on rallying anyway.

One thing's certain: JJ is no Marin Cilic
Serving for the match now.
Murray no Nadal, and Bercy no Wimbledon, but this game has all the vibe and feel of the Rosol one.

What a turnaround by JJ . Great win and I hope its goes better than just 1 week of brilliant tennis. Nevertheless it was a remarkable performance.
Murray is quite a delight to watch when he is abusing himself both verbally and physically. Thats the best part of his game which I truly enjoy.

Shoot. I missed that. But it;s good to be able to add another potential youngster in the list of possible future top 5.
Glad to know they want the 25s rule to be applied. Those youngsters understand what's behind it.
