ATP MASTERS 1000: Paris Bercy
Yes, it's the last one.
Hard to believe how quick 2012 has gone.
This time last year, Nole was the holder of 3 slams, coming back form his back injury, people were sneering at his going to Paris to pick up the bonus cheque...
Well, this time, he's going there to pick up his number one ranking...sorry Rog
The field as strong as it can be: Federer, Djokovic, Murray Ferrer, Berdych, Tsonga...those who got injured in Basel & Valencia are all ready to roll again....two more places up for grabs at the WTF, so should be fun!
The Draw (Murray in Federer's half):

Order of Play:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2012/352/op.pdf
I believe Novak needs the semifinal to cement the year end number one ranking.
Two years in a row, sounds good...already!
OH!!!
I can't believe I forgot the song....well if it was Roland Garros it would have to be the old school, but since Paris Bercy like to have a modern twist, this will do :

Just found a peRRRRRRRRfect one for Paris

Oh so Its not even in Fed's racquet.....Well....impossible then for Fed.
Why does Fed always get Murray now? (I m not suspecting fowl play btw)
Djoko facing Rao and Delpo....not a gimme.

It would be ridiculously impressive if Fed managed to keep the ranking.
He can't afford to lose a match till the end of the year, plus Nole must play really rubbish.

quite yummy
That is my wishful pick, Fed will have enough to do with Berd. I am for Berd, that will be a good preparation for DC with Spain. If Berd wins then he can go through Murray to the final with Nole. Final Berd with Nole, would be nice
Berd has already won BNP as his the first Master and this season he plays his best tennis.

If Berd and Fed meet in quarters, Fed breaks his racket.

Johnn, new members will always be welcomed on v2.
I recognise ja606 has been a bit quiet recently, so that's a good place you could debate on a variety of topics.

Back to Paris....I just want to know one thing:
how on earth are the finalists who will be playing on Sunday and I am expected both players to be WTF qualifiers, to play a Monday match in London?
In short, someone will have to play a match every day form Wednesday to Monday, plus travel., 6 days in a row, a day break (Tuesday) and then another match...

Yes. For ending the Year as #1, winning Shanghai was very important. If Murray had won it, Fed's chances would have been better. But still not entirely on his racquet. Its fine, Djokovic has been more consistent throughout the year and the point system reflects exactly that.
Tenez wrote:Why does Fed always get Murray now? (I m not suspecting fowl play btw)
They are now trying to make up for the past.
Take my word, its going to be a walk in the park. Raonic perhaps may lose even before facing Djokovic. And Delpo lacks the variety that can hurt Djokovic. It will take a very good day for Delpo even to match up to Djokovic. Most likely he is in for a toast, just like US open.Tenez wrote: Djoko facing Rao and Delpo....not a gimme.
But I won't mind eating my own words here.

Federer's skipping Paris Bercy. I am sad, really sad
"Roger Federer has pulled out of the Paris Masters
starting Monday to rest before the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals
in London.
Federer says "it's the only right decision for me" as "it's just too much" to play in Paris."

Yes, it is bad not to see him play in Paris, but otherwise the best thing what he could have done it. The draw was the worst what he could get it. To concentrate on London is really right thing

Re: ATP MASTERS 1000: Paris Bercy
Fed had no other choice. It was Shanghai or Paris for him to skip. He chose to go after the 300 weeks record, which makes sense to me.
I've fast forwarded todays final, don't think he looked too tired but 3 weeks in a row is too much for him now.
The 6-0 h2h (2012) against Delpo was a bit flattered, so i'm not surprised Delpo won. It had to happen sometime.

I did see the first set but it the last 2, it was pretty close if anything Fed had more chance to win that 3rd set having 4 BPs and none against him...but thatwas until he played a poor TB.

Djokovic now has a clear shot at YE #1 with Federer out of Paris (losing a 1000 points). Perhaps he can win a record seventh WTF after the break.

Watching Simon, just a question for the forum. Why has it not happened for Gilly? In 2008 he looked a much more refined version of Murray and posted some big results. Do you think he will kick on?

To me, his game is beautiful to watch. I like his ball-striking and his counter-punching game because it's clean and intelligent. He comes forward more often than he is given credit for.

I must admit I have always had a soft spot for Simon. When he came through with Murray in 2008, I thought he was the better player. He has been unlucky with injuries.

He visited his dad who was taken to hospital with severe backache yesterday.

Novak Djokovic might withdraw from the Paris Masters to ensure he is fit for the ATP World Tour Finals in London next week. The Serb, who has clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking, canceled a meet-and-greet session with fans on Monday as he wasn't ''feeling well.''

Simon has two famous victories over Federer in 2008 (TMC and Canada) (mono year for Federer perhaps) and that famous AO 5-setter with Federer (again). He was one of the few players who had a winning h2h against Federer till AO balanced it at 2-2.
He has 5 titles on each of clay and HC. He also has the now famous/notorious 61-shot (or is it 54-shot) rally on clay with Monfils, IIRC.
The USO 2012 match against Fish was not what I expected from him with an 84mph first serve and 69mph second serve.
I also recall his match against Nadal @USO when he had just become a father. In his post-match interview he said he was appy to either win or lose.

Being open minded I could understand any 'suspicions' I recall the story at Wimbledon that in his left ankle he only has 1 ligament instead of the 3. I didn't think it was physically possible to play sport let alone professional tennis.
