What’s the weather? Unless it’s drizzly it’ll be obviously Nadal by the middle of the 1st set as the tactic plays out.

If it’s drizzly then Thiem has a chance if he keeps his head.

Thiem's only chance is if he manages to wear Nadal off. When you think about it, he is the only one who had the fitness to challenge him. He has the loopy game to make him run while running himself.

I expect a close match if Thiem keeps his head together but I still expect him to lose.

If it goes to 5, Thiem should win...bar rain interruption!

Oh I think 5 sets it’s Thiems to lose but getting there is the trick.

Nadal is very nervous abd having lost to Thiem a few weeks ago that’ll be on his mind.

I know I’m a cracked record but it’s crucial that the ball doesn’t rear up dramatically. Sadly I see hot and dry is the forecast.

This looks to be the perfect final. I don’t think there is much debate that these two guys are the world’s top two claycourters and it’s the great champion against a younger guy in his first final.

Neither player has been particularly tested on their run to the final. I think Thiem has probably looked slightly the more convincing but he’s also probably had the easier opposition.

I’m going for the upset today. Just have a feeling it will final be a changing of the guard. Thiem to win in 4.

if it goes to 5 sets, it is more than probable that it will be a match in several parts (rain interruptions)

game starts at 15:00 but in truth it will be 15:20 more or less

rain is expected around 18:00 so they have those 2 hours and a half before a probable interruption.

Thx Jahu, but I can never get these European sites to work. No worries, it is fine. If the match is still in progress 90 minutes from now, I will see it from there. If not, then it is probably better that way anyway.

He is as aggressive as he can be. Problem is this is Nadal's mudpit and he can always find a way to pin Thiem far inthe BH corner.
And there is the slimeball umpire to help with fake calls just in case.

Thiem can't win this even if Nadal left the court and was not across the net kind of thing....

Usually i'm not very optimistic concerning Nadal's fitness and the chance of beating it but i reckon next year Thiem can do it.
Have you read something about the trainings regime of Thiem's coach Gunther Bresnik? The guy who coached Gulbis in the top 10.
Bresnik's training methods are beasty, exactly what's needed.
I'm already looking forward to the panic in Nadal's eyes once he realizes he's not going to outlast Thiem.

There are different kinds of being neutral. What the Sod did so well in 2009 was hitting neutral shots (flat balls straight in the middle) which couldn't be countered by Nadal.

NBC commentators were also just talking about Nadal's time between points - they were talking very positively about the shot clock. They said that Rafa always takes long but when the match gets tight, he takes even longer.

The problem with Thiem is: he's too much of a claycourter. He lacks flat shots, netplay and variety.
