Who Is Going To Win WTF?
Re: World Tour Final: 2016
Tenez wrote:I am actually quite impressed by Raonic. A good player in fact!
Imagine if he had not been injured so much.
I still find him a bore.
Robotic, with zero flair and a subpar BH.
He times some of his FHs well, but it feels like he'd drilled thise a trillion times before.
Nothing loose about his game.
Just like a tractor with a ferarri engine.

Re: World Tour Final: 2016
I thought Monfils was playing poorly...just didn't know what to do.
This new coach who is trying to discipline him hasn't done a good job...because it's difficult to discipline a player without a single weapon...so now Monfils has lost his only weapon - the magic weave!
And acts like a fool when he should do it least...he lost several big points trying to hit unnecessary tweeners...
But I suppose he qualified for WTF, so that must be some success, though I am nit sure he feels comfortable in that cage.

Djoko crashing mentally in press conference after the match, and behaving like a arrogant rich git.

Re: World Tour Final: 2016
Feel for Thiem. It's almost the way isn't it? When it comes to Djokovic or even Murray for that matter. If their opponent has exhausted lots of energy in to winning one set, physically they tail off immediately. I knew even though Thiem had won the battle, he lost the war after that first set.
I did watch the doubles match with Murray. Another Hawkeye debacle on MP. Miryni rightfully annoyed with 1) the lateness of the call and 2) whether Hawkeye was correct.
Raonic was solid last night. Monfils erratic when it mattered most.
I thought the Djokovic press conference was telling. I did agree with him that the press are making out he is some kind of combustible individual. It was a Mirror reporter being an arse with the questions. The incident was ironic in the sense that even though Djokovic aimed the ball for his box, he missed. Like most of his shots in that 1st set

As i pointed out already years ago, that was even more the case when players were facing Nadal. Very close first sets, if not Nadal often losing the first set....with the remaining sets being more and more on Nadal's favour.
It's called "professional tennis": Taking the talent out of the equation to rely on fitness a much more consistent, scientific weapon accessible to those who are in the know.

I think there is too much 'safety' built into the modern player. Even those with copious amounts of talent. Many times yesterday Thiem had the chance to punish rather short and lifeless balls from Djokovic and kept playing down the middle of the court.
The one thing Nadal had was ridiculous spin. Djokovic and Murray have nothing near that, yet so many who face them play with far too much fear.

Re: World Tour Final: 2016
I don't think Thiem is that talented.
He relies on spin too much...plus stands too far back.
Goffin is more talented than him.

Yes, that is quite possible.
Nole was returning below his standard yesterday.
I only saw a set and a half, but in the first set he was limp, lifeless, many short balls, inexplicable netted serves etc...
He can't afford that against Raonic.

wawrinka looking like a shadow of the player he was when winning the u.s openÂ
disgraceful comments and behaviour from djokovic in the press conference when asked about hitting a ball into the stands out of frustration
instead of saying that he was in the wrong,he shows a nasty side and that he has an attitude problem
i dont blame the crowd when  they cheer for his opponent,he certainly has given them enough reason to not support him

In some ways yes and some ways no.
I think he should've apologised for his actions, however I can see why he got annoyed in the press conference when he knows that he isn't the most aggressive player on tour in terms of conduct.
In some ways an apology might've prevented the barrage of questions that followed.

I would never apologize to someone who wants me to! I'd have no problem apologizing to someone who is not looking for it.

i think the response was far worse then the action though
he really did himself no favours by reacting like that and i wont be surprised if it changes a few peoples opinion of him

It's terrible to see a player like Cilic who has played tennis all his life since the age of 5 making so many UEs on his FH. he is just too emotional.
He was lucky that in his USO final Nishi was even more emotional.

Cilic is only playing his best when he is expected to lose.....in short versus Federer.
He shoudl win v Murray and Djoko but makes so many UEs....on easy sitters....very frustrating to watch.

Out of the 8 best doubles players, that is the best 16 doubles players, 3 players only are under 30. ....the other 13 are over 30 with an average of 35yo!!!! So difficult to comrprehend in a game you think reflexes are everything!

Any clue anyone? I'd put my money on Monfils as Thiem doesn't have the weapons to shake him off on this court.

Thiem beat him in their only meeting on a clay court slower than this one. Comfortably in the end. He can hit through the court definitelu./

I had similar thoughts yesterday...how tough it is to bet on matches now...so no betting for me this WTF.
Monfils was not great against Raonic, not sure he can beat Thiem, maybe 55% for Monfils max.
