He, he, Nadal tries a low-net clearance FH and whacks it in the net.
If only he was able to play with semi-western grip, maybe it would work.

Watching Tomic-Kokkinakis.
The new era.
Tall, strong players, big serves hitting gizzards out of the ball.
I noticed similar trend in women's tennis, lots of young ones striking ball very well, but behind it, it's years of drill.
There is almost no place for hands in modern tennis.
The game has changed so much.

Not a fan of Kokkinakis, trying every trick in the book to disturb Tomic's serve

Cedric obviously got the message after dismissal of Bernardes.
Scared to even give Almagro an ace at 6:4 3:1 for Nadal...
Like Pascal Maria, another gutless coward.
Je Suis Bernardes!!!

yep.
Though Alma is 2 sets down he makes Nadal run like crazy! Nadal has both the best and worst clay game ever. Best cause it works in terms of results, worst cause there is no more exhausting and uglier tennis on clay!

Kokkinakis wins!
Hits almost twice as many winners as Tomic the tank engine.

Did you watch the match?
Tomic choked big time.
I bet Nadal hit twice as many winners as Almagro, too...

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction game Day 5 Thursday 28-May
The match would have been closer had the balls not been that slow. Alma did not play well but he made Nadal run like crazy. I am pretty sure Nadal would not have got to that many balls had they been a bit faster. Even though he had the whole open court to pull a FH winner Alma was not attempting it knowing nadal woudl get it. By the time the ball gets past 3m behind the baseline, it stops to a standstill....waiting for Nadal to arrive.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction game Day 5 Thursday 28-May
I only saw a little bit...
Nadal's FH was short and very attackable, Almagro is really a joke as his opponent, he has lovely technique on his groundstrokes, nice serve when it gets in...and that's about it.
No guile or finesse, no hands at all.
Tomic by contrast oozes talent - so much easy power, great hands...and a crazy father that didn't give him enough hugs and love as a boy.

Yes the set of skills to succeed back then is so different than now. But that's clay actually...it has always been like that more or less. Wilander or Chang winning at 17 or 16 respectively mooballing with no proper coudl be seen then already.
Nadal has perfected that thanks to new technology and fitness.

I am amazed at seeing games like Coric. very poor shots, amazing fitness. And like Nadal he coudl win win 14 slams or so....had he arrived 10 years earlier!

Who he would have been beating to win those 14 slams? Federer on grass, HC and Clay? Nadal on clay? Djokovic?

Coric is spent! 61 or 60 for Robredo in the 5th.
Coric thinks he can run for ever but his body tell him otherwise.

Look at Coric, after 5 sets running he does not seem breathless though! This is "new technology"!!!
I have never seen such an obvious case of doping!.....bar Nadal maybe.

Good!
And I'm so glad all his steroid "investment" is not going to pay off, well at least not in terms of glory...he is so full of himself in a cheap and vulgar way.
Not very bright, either. He really thinks he's cracked it, and now slowly finding out all that hype is not coming true as easily as he thought it was going to.

I was just browsing through Blic and saw Coric knocked Robredo out....I thought that was the actual score in your post ....
Poor Robredo....and scary Coric was able to last and outlast in 5 sets on this slow clay with these dead balls against a seasoned, quality grinder like Robredo.
I can't believe it!

Yeah, i just said in the other thread you probably didn't like Coric win.
It was amazing he hung in and took it away from Robredo.
Technically Robredo is the better player but Coric was overall a little more aggressive, so i thought he deserved it

Over to Lenglen where Gasquet finally gets a grip om Berlocq.
Berlocq reminds me a bit of Gonzo. Some insane wild hitting at times. Gonzo was much better at it though

Gasquet has dissapointed so often, we all got despondent about him. Yet his flat BH DTL is unique. Fed can do it but his succesrate is poor.
Stan can, if he's on. Gasquet does it with his eyes closed it seems

When I said Coric was spent, it was after being 0/40 down on his serve in the first game of the 5th...yet he went on to win this one and the set. But that is where I noticed his breathing was as if it was the first set whereas Robredo was gasping for air.gallery play wrote:Yeah, i just said in the other thread you probably didn't like Coric win.
