OMG, such gutsy play from almagro in the tb. He just took the 2nd set!!!!!
First ever vs nadal in their h 2h. Even if nadal wins this match, alma shows the king of clay is very beatable now even on clay.

I also think that a lot of subjects have been done to death so much less excitement about interesting discussions either.

I enjoyed the debate about Fed and Stan's BHs. though....in particular cause I had no real opinion at the beginning. Well I knew one was overall more efficient but I could not pinpoint why.

I have said it many times, Nadal is the best player on clay over 3 and 5 sets. But I think over a set he is one of the worst.

Same here, and it may be one of the reasons, but I also think another simple reason is that these fora are not that easy to find.

The original 606 forum got a lot of "foot traffic" from people who were visiting BBC site. Some of them would stay. Not that easy to make your way here. If someone is just randomly looking for a tennis forum to join, they will likely find some of the large fora and stay there. Not easy to make your way here or to v2 unless you have some 606 history.

No, you are not allowed to mention only OFT, it is referred to as "the other forum" plus all that goes with it.
Not so for MTL etc.
During Monte Carlo there was a link to my v2 Monte Carlo thread while I was there at the bottom of Monte Carlo page here so I clicked on it and realised that was when we got banned.

True and I hardly make any effort to advertise it. "foot traffic" is crucial I agree. But problem with "OTF" is that is pretty open and straightforward so it can either attract the trolls (which we don't want) or feel way too extreme for the average tennis fan.

They essentially made the stupid mistake to break off a large friendly group 2 years ago which was working very well.

So Rafa could not make it 13 in a row against Stan, and now he could not make it 13 in a row against Almagro.

Not only is he losing, he is losing to SHBHs. smiley

I was very impressed with Almagro - to come back on clay against Rafa after having lost the first set, that is not easy. Remarkably, Almagro's BH was getting better and better as the match went on.

What's bizarre is that Nadal was still hitting the ball very hard at the end but it doesn't seem able to last that long...so after 3 or 4 balls hot hard, he comes up with an UE...unlike in the past.

He is already scarred badly - the number of chokes he produced over his career is unreal - I do not think this would have made any difference.

But on the flipside, maybe the fact that he did not choke can make the difference going forward and help him win more matches like this one.

I think he got very nervous in the last game. Yes, he did hit the ball hard (loved the sitter FH he netted on BP), but it was extremely safe: all short and well within the lines: zero confidence.

I was about to say the same. In fact I think the reason he won today is that he knew he was going to lose till the very last point anyway and relaxed a bit more.

Yes confidence is an issue...but how can one lose confidence despite having so much power and margins? Imagine if he had a SHBH! He could not hit a ball back!

Difficult to pin point what it is. A bit of the other players getting used to his game and him not being overconfident.

But I also remember that he has had so many close matches even at his most successful years that it doesn't much to tip the outcome.

Last year he almost lost here v Ferrer for instance.

That works for Djoko, and his quest for nber 1 spot!
