That was some brilliant ball-striking from Almagro...Stan Wawrinka BH fans, take a note!

OMG, such gutsy play from almagro in the tb. He just took the 2nd set!!!!!
First ever vs nadal in their h 2h. Even if nadal wins this match, alma shows the king of clay is very beatable now even on clay.

And Almagro takes the TB!
I also think that a lot of subjects have been done to death so much less excitement about interesting discussions either.
I enjoyed the debate about Fed and Stan's BHs. though....in particular cause I had no real opinion at the beginning. Well I knew one was overall more efficient but I could not pinpoint why.

I have said it many times, Nadal is the best player on clay over 3 and 5 sets. But I think over a set he is one of the worst.

Same here, and it may be one of the reasons, but I also think another simple reason is that these fora are not that easy to find.Tenez wrote:I think the main reason for tennis forums to die off is the fact Fed is less of big contender anymore and added to that the end of Fedal rivalry.
I have less interest myself and I think many are sharing this feeling I believe.
The original 606 forum got a lot of "foot traffic" from people who were visiting BBC site. Some of them would stay. Not that easy to make your way here. If someone is just randomly looking for a tennis forum to join, they will likely find some of the large fora and stay there. Not easy to make your way here or to v2 unless you have some 606 history.

No, you are not allowed to mention only OFT, it is referred to as "the other forum" plus all that goes with it.
Not so for MTL etc.
During Monte Carlo there was a link to my v2 Monte Carlo thread while I was there at the bottom of Monte Carlo page here so I clicked on it and realised that was when we got banned.
http://www.606v2.com/t27664-atp-1000-monte-carlo-daily-order-of-play
After one of my threads was deleted there I was never comfortable, too much thought police resulting in sterility.
But it seems that's the sign of times...it's spreading everywhere.
Makes me very sad.

Why else? Because they don't want people voting with their feet. They are very insecure, because they know their modding methods are crap and completely biased, and that many would vote with their feet.

True and I hardly make any effort to advertise it. "foot traffic" is crucial I agree. But problem with "OTF" is that is pretty open and straightforward so it can either attract the trolls (which we don't want) or feel way too extreme for the average tennis fan.

They essentially made the stupid mistake to break off a large friendly group 2 years ago which was working very well.FedererKing wrote:summerblues wrote:No, I do not know. But my impression was you were not really allowed to talk about any non-v2 forum on v2, not just OTF.noleisthebest wrote:SB,

Yes, I'm rather impressed with almagro ATM. Nadal meantime is the one looking out of steam. That's a first.

Wow. Mugro serving for the match.
Of course, I remember he was serving for the match against Ferrer at AO13 on three (or four?) separate occasions, and failed every time.

1 down 4 to go.

Poor Almagro...kissing those 4 balls before serving for the match...so happy for him, had he lost it would have scarred him badly.

Re: Barcelona Open 500
So Rafa could not make it 13 in a row against Stan, and now he could not make it 13 in a row against Almagro.
Not only is he losing, he is losing to SHBHs.
I was very impressed with Almagro - to come back on clay against Rafa after having lost the first set, that is not easy. Remarkably, Almagro's BH was getting better and better as the match went on.

What's bizarre is that Nadal was still hitting the ball very hard at the end but it doesn't seem able to last that long...so after 3 or 4 balls hot hard, he comes up with an UE...unlike in the past.

He is already scarred badly - the number of chokes he produced over his career is unreal - I do not think this would have made any difference.noleisthebest wrote:had he lost it would have scarred him badly.
But on the flipside, maybe the fact that he did not choke can make the difference going forward and help him win more matches like this one.

I think he got very nervous in the last game. Yes, he did hit the ball hard (loved the sitter FH he netted on BP), but it was extremely safe: all short and well within the lines: zero confidence.
Payback time:Stan, Ferrer and now Almagro. Good times keep rolling on. Viva 2014!

I was about to say the same. In fact I think the reason he won today is that he knew he was going to lose till the very last point anyway and relaxed a bit more.summerblues wrote:He is already scarred badly - the number of chokes he produced over his career is unreal - I do not think this would have made any difference.noleisthebest wrote:had he lost it would have scarred him badly.

Yes confidence is an issue...but how can one lose confidence despite having so much power and margins? Imagine if he had a SHBH! He could not hit a ball back!noleisthebest wrote:Tenez wrote:What's bizarre is that Nadal was still hitting the ball very hard at the end but it doesn't seem able to last that long...so after 3 or 4 balls hot hard, he comes up with an UE...unlike in the past.

Ok, so the final is Nishi, Gulbis! I doubt Alma will be a problem for either of them in the final..
You might be surprised to read this but beating nadal is one thing, handling pace is another.

Re: Barcelona Open 500
Difficult to pin point what it is. A bit of the other players getting used to his game and him not being overconfident.
But I also remember that he has had so many close matches even at his most successful years that it doesn't much to tip the outcome.
Last year he almost lost here v Ferrer for instance.
That works for Djoko, and his quest for nber 1 spot!

Out of respect to Amri, I don't want to go into gender details. But trust me, a woman knows the inner workings of another woman. Amri is a she in my mind. Besides, what type of man will choose pseudos like "It Must Be Love" or Julia to represent them?
My only question is why do you refer to Amri as a "she" all the time? You even shared his Facebook profile here once.

Re: Barcelona Open 500
With 2000 points to defend before the FO and less than 2000 to difference v Djoko in the ATP, Nadal could lose his nber 1 spot before the FO!!!!
But again, the most amazing thing is the crowd backing up Almagro...not for me but for Catalans?!?!?
That must be affecting Nadal so much!

I'm confused, but alma is from Murica. He's not Catalan. I still don't understand why they rooted for him. Is it main land Spain vs Mallorca?
