Two crazed men kill a British Soldier in central London!

Very sad events, indeed.
They happen every day, though, all over the world, even worse than that. Unfortunatly, it's only when it it close to home or affects us personally are we awakened to the thought that the world we live in is a dangerous place and that we take so many daily blessings for granted.

I was actually attacked by a mad guy wielding a knife when I was 19. Went to visit my friend when a man leapt out of dark hallway..it was horrible to face a mad man, I could see it all over his face, his eyes were terrible. God saved me as I did not panic and just managed to manouver around him and run out back on the street.

He then ran out, too, dropped the knife and started running up the street and disappeared.

I was very shaken, went back into my friend's building to ring the police and she told me that the guy actually lived in her building, that he was officially and medically mad, but not "mad enough" to be locked up....

So after that, this line had a whole new meaning to me:

"Madmen are everywhere, even in mad houses."

Yep....lucky you. I had a drunk policeman in civil, so did not know he was a cop then, pointing a gun at my temple. Pretty scary too.

But again my hat off to this women...and according to teh article it was women who also tried to rescue and attend the victim.

Yes, women often tend to act bravely and it's a great feeling not to cave in to a bully.
I've had moments where I surprised myself at the calm and resolve I didn't know I had (which is the key thing in those situations), but we don't really know how we are going to react until it happens to us. So, you may have reacted just like the woman yesterday.
Sometimes it's not easy to judge whether to interfere or not as you don't know the ins and outs of a fight in the street.

I once interfered stopping a group of youths viciously kicking another youth on the ground. It was not easy and I was amazed to see a few people walk by and do nothing. I nearly did the same but then just could not live with myself and turned around.
I tell you, it wasn't easy as it's a scary thing to confront a group of enraged and probably temporarily out of their mind young men, I was only able to walk up to them and yell out: Leave him alone! and I was expecting them to shout at me and God knows what else, but they actually didn't do any of it and did leave the kid on the ground immediately.

If anything good can come out of yesterday's tragic event, I hope it's the example of courage of the woman, I hope it makes people think twice next time they choose to be silent and do nothing.

The thing that also upsets me is that people around the world, esp wealthy part of it tend to value their lives more than those of the third world.

Western media will cry and shout about the death of a few civilians but hypocritically keep silent and thus condone thousands of innocent lives lost in Iraq, Rwanda etc.
Or even worse, promote lies in order to start off wars in order to gain money/political control.

I find it hard to support various "charities" in the street asking you for money for "our soldiers fighting bravely around the world"...but don't get me started on that one.

Yes I guess women can be braver cause, maybe, we, men are raised and protected as a child by women and there is a natural innate respect for it but also a duty to protect women and children which any healthy minded men abides by. Where the courage was from these women is that those guys certainly did not look "healthy". Whereas we, men, do not have the same approach between ourselves so have to be more cautious....as this poor soldier experimented. But in any cases, I am impressed by this lady.

Regarding your political point, it's clear we are not clean!
