Top 4/10 At The End of 2013 - Race To London
With the latest development of Murray being out for the rest of the season due to back injury/surgery, it would be interesting to see how top 4 and top 10 look at the end of 2013 and how that may affect the race for WTF and especially seedings for AO 2014.
I believe Murray has a reasonable number of points do defend, but I am not sure whether/when/how Federer can overtake him at number 4 before AO.
We all remember Lendl's Murray Number One talk earlier this year. How things change quickly in tennis....

So roughly the same number of points to defend between Murray and Federer but Federer is 2500 points behind..correct?
Can he grab that many in the remaining weeks? Dont think so. He only grabbed 3000 in the last 9 months!!!!.
Never mind....Hopefully he can still win WTF.

Re: Top 4/10 At The End of 2013 - Race To London
I think Federer is booked for a 250 tournament before AO.
It would be nice to see him shine in O2 again, but there are so many unknowns at the moment with him: his back, his racquet...
Yes, WTF will be interesting with Murray out of it and Nadal's glittering record there...
I suppose Ferrer's in the game, too:
WTF 400
Paris Bercy 1000
Auckland 250
Valencia 500
I still can't believe he is in top 4....even more criminal he could end up as number 3!
I only saw him live once in Wimbledon against Agut and could not believe what a poor ball-striker he is...he wouldn't even make it to a ball-boy in the 80s.

Re: Top 4/10 At The End of 2013 - Race To London
A few changes in top ten this week:
Race to London:
I wish Ferrer would somehow cancel WTF this year....he is going to be nothing but a punchbag for everyone, plus I can bet he'll be in Nadal's group.....
It would be nice to have 3 SBH in London, though
It will be criminal if Fed does not qualify, it is just too devastating to even think about it. He will, he must!!!!!

Wow. Fed on the brink.. Problem for Fed really is in this form he's not going to be a factor anyway... On top of that- he's now forced to play Basel and Paris and then WTF back to back to back... 3 weeks in a row is going to be too much. It will be nice for him to qualify just to get antoher record (I believe that would be the most qualifications in a row or some other similar record) but I also hate to see his impeccable run of great performances at the WTF get marred by a bad one.
Looking through the field though-- some golden era of great depth.. not.... please....

yes it is going to be close for Fed but with Murray not entering he has a better chance. I still fancy him to upset anyone on the day. He is that king of player.

Same here. Fed perhaps may not be able to beat anyone in the RR stage. It may be worse than even 2008 WTF. Fed needs time and time to regroup, rethink and re plan.truffin1 wrote:Wow.
