I am in need of some meaty upsets, plus I will be happy if they happen, so why not?

Gasquet had a long tiring match against Raonic. Will he be able to run for 4 more hours against a road-runner? Tough be I just don't like Ferrer to be in semis, so let me root for Gasquet.


Nadal is too overwhelmingly dominant on all Spanish players. Robrado will not have much chance. Nadal's place is the final was booked looking at the draw he had. His only trouble could have been Fed which is also considering he has beaten Nadal in the past and nothing more.

Nole fandom aside, wouldn't it be lovely to have Gasquet-Robredo & Wawrinka-Youzhny semi-finals (ideally Federer instead of Robredo, in fact)?

Just imagine the 5 set battles and the atmosphere they would create. Then, those SBH crossing the court like swords.

Then a completely new set of smiles and speeches at the trophy ceremony....

I would have taken it even if Simon was the one. Tennis needs some new slam winners.

For me, it's not the "new" that's important, more that tennis goes /shrinks back to its old healthy, organic self.

JS, I do not think you posted the points for the next set of QFs; so here are my picks:

Nole vs Youzhny - I pick Nole
Andy vs Stan - If you are making Stan's win worth 10 or more points, I am picking Stan, otherwise I am picking Andy.

Gasquet played awesome!! Some bilps in the 3rd and 4th set but very happy he finally got through Ferrer. Ferrer has enjoyed far too much success being on the top-4. Its time he leaves this seat.

The only realistic chance for SB's wish for an upset is Stan beating Murray. Djokovic looks quite strong and well in-form. Youzhny might take a set at best.

So let me cheer for Stan.

Nadal in his one (bless him!) said that the first set of HIS match was the first one he played 100% this year.....

He meant like 100% as in he played at his best level for basically every point throughout the set, nothing to do with injury.
