That melody is a beauty itself. Your mum surely deserves it

Re: Is Tennis.....
I actually dream of Nadal winning it (again).Surely, ALL of you have dreamt of winning it, I still do! No idea how, but that dream just does not seem to want to go away...
But yeah, in all seriousness good post

Noleisthebest- you got a shout out and some discussion on Federer's website fan forum!! Someone saw your Fur Elise post- I think in a Tignor column postings? and posted it saying how great it is. They are wondering "who is this person who thinks Nole is the best yet writes such beautiful words about Federer!?" lol.

Posted!!!
The only news about Fed has been a couple of promotional appearances and some sightings of him enjoying time with his family. I believe he just tweeted some pictures of him on a skilift and it turns out he is at some type of festival with the kids.. I'm sure he's training but good to see he is getting in some family time to reenergize mentally!
I too am surprised about the time it took to get the racquet out there and marketed... but the blitz is starting. From what I see, it looks like an incredible racquet. I plan to demo it soon...

Re: Is Tennis.....
Cika Joca.
A million things to million people.
To me, a very special friend. The one in whose house I first saw a tennis match at the age of 6.
The one that played tennis while I only dreamt about playing it.
Then life happened...
I would hear about Cika Joca now and then from my parents.
They were visiting each other, my mum enjoyed cooking for him and he enjoyed telling them his stories from around the world.
In the meantime, I started going to tennis matches and my mum became the one telling him my stories from around the world.
So...Cika Joca watched on TV and tried to spot me every time my mum told him I was going.
And he would spot me every time, and hear me. A couple of times even when I was not there.
I rang him from Philipe Chatrier. Told him it was a beautiful day and that I was there.
I was one of the "phantom" people that in my childhood looked so impossible on TV screen.
Over the seven hills and seven seas.
Cika Joca and I met again after many years in Belgrade and watched Serbia's SF Davis Cup match.
I brought him the Wimbledon 2013 towel he shyly asked for through my parents and the RG lapel badge.
He gave me his Prince tennis racquet. He had stopped playing due to illness some years before that.
Somehow, I was hoping to persuade him to play a game next time I went to Belgrade.
But when does life happen as we would like it to?
He died a few hours ago.
I suppose I'll play with him in my heart and his Prince in the hand tomorrow.
Maybe he'll be able to see me.

Is tennis ... a sport that massively relies on your insane fitness, something that appears to enhance your mental strength because you know you can outlast your opponent?
No according to LK. I'm naive as well apparently!

Re: Is Tennis.....
I think in principle you're right to raise a point that there can be a connection between mental strength and attributes in tennis, so I will back you up.luvsports! wrote:Is tennis ... a sport that massively relies on your insane fitness, something that appears to enhance your mental strength because you know you can outlast your opponent?
No according to LK. I'm naive as well apparently!
However there are other attributes- not just fitness- for example Djokovic's big improvement in serve must have also made him feel much more assured.
I can also understand LK's point of view on this and think he's made a valid point- Djokovic overcoming health issues was a big factor too in him getting to his peak level.

Re: Is Tennis.....
I'm not saying there isn't. I literally just mentioned that aspect as I think it is one of, if not, the most important strings to an already potent bow.
Everything is multi-faceted. But being able to outlast Nadal is phenomenal.
Not that fun being called pathetic and naive etc but I'm standing by my views. I can be impetuous naturally but no need to steer away from civility.

Re: Is Tennis.....
Of course LS. It is the most important "string" as you say to the bow in those current conditions. The fact that 3 of the top 4 players are the fittest players on tour simply seals the case. Once again we had an AO final with the fittest players facing each other.
But what is interesting is that this physical edge has so much effect on the mental side nowadays when 2 fit players face each others. When Murray realised that Djoko was not "done" and could still run like a rabbit, it really destroyed Murray's spirit !

Re: Is Tennis.....
Is tennis...?
still haven't been able to formulate the question...yet the answers keep finding their ways through paths of mind eroded by days and nights of breathing.
So...here it is, the silent dilemma of winning and losing.
I have decided to leave the drinker to decide how full or empty the cup is on the day.
No judging.
Winners: what have you won?
Losers: what have you lost?
I leave it to winners and losers to armwrestle that one out.
But, still, my feet keep taking me to the court whenever they can, and when they can't they just well...I know it's quite silly to say...but they almost don't exist.
Is tennis...
It looks like it is...it's a Why?
Ah well...I should have known...
And it's such a free and individual Why?
How can one ever get bored of answering that question...
And can it get better than to find the answer on the tennis court?
To keep bumping into glass walls of others and of self...
And to be unaware of it all most of the time...
To roar and burn.
To die and leap with joy.
To be free.
I haven't won. I haven't lost. I have found the ball.
